Quick question, why didn't you chooae the ad8020? It is better statistically and objectivelly

What is a AD8020? I searched ADI website and they don't have any AD8020. In fact, Google also turns out mostly nothing. Is it an old discontinued part?

Beside a bit too bright to my liking, AD8066 is actually not a bad choice on the spec.

I think best to put the 8741 chip first and use line out to enhance the amp section.
8741 gives u more clarity and makes use of an external amp to arrive at a more refined and neutral sound (not too bright nor too warm)
Based on my experience....

The output current of AD8620 is too small to drive low impedance headphones.

what if I told you that I ordered a saber ultra highend dac to see if it would fit (nAmely the 9018)

I hope you haven't actually ordered  it as it will be a really bad move and a waste of money. It won't fit, because the whole pin-out are totally different on the two. The only reason WM741 will work is because they are mostly pins compatible.

This is how a ES9018 looks like:

..and this is a WM8740:

You will probably be the best DIYer I have even seen if you can pull this off.

Note that WM8741 also draws much more power than 8740. That's why those guys in HK that does the commercial mod (WM8741+AD8620) didn't improve the battery life by much. Even though AD8620 should have extended the battery life significantly, the improvement is taken away by the power hunger WM8741.

I dont have much power issue based on my usage..
I now commute with two DAPs (mod X3 and DX50) and two sets of iem (for best synergy).. Personally, I dont mind if the battery life reduces to 4 hours...

Please help me make a decision.

I already have a Rockboxed Fuze + stock fiio L6 LOD + JDS cmoy. But this combo does not work good for the 12Ohm Sony MA900. The amp is too weak in current as i understand.

So now i would either get an O2 from JDS (maybe e12) as a replacement for my cmoy and use it with my Fuze through the LOD or get a single X3.

How would these compare in sound? Fuze RB + L6 LOD stock + JDS O2 (or e12) vs X3

The other pair of my headphones are DT250 250Ohm.

thanks for help!

Hi James,

A feature I'd like to see coming on X3 is the random album mode, where instead of shuffling tracks, you shuffle albums, and play the full album in tracks order.

This is quite hard ton find on many players. Apple implemented it on iPod thou.

Cheers

Got my X3 today, but everytime I shut it down and turn the power on again, it will not jump directly to the song that was playing before, it will jump to the main menu. How can I change this?
