Ihifi 770 & 770c Thread

Hi thread,

Does anyone own/owned both 770cNEW and 800?

I want to make it a small upgrade, but not sure if it is worth efforts.
It is not that I do not like the sound, but the input and lack of buttons make me mad sometimes.

If you really like Xuelin, wait for 990. It will be on sale soon, maybe in a month.

I have the 800 and the new 770C.  I prefer to use the 800 at home; the sound quality is more neutral than the 770C.  Since XVortex has developed Rockbox for the 800, the value of the player has increased for me.  I like the sound quality of the 800 more than that of the FiiO X3.  Most vendors are selling the 800 in the $220 to $250 range.  The 990 will (supposedly) handle higher resolution files than anything Xuelin has put out so far. The price on Taobao for pre-orders of the 990 is ~$300 US, but the player may cost a bit more when it is released to other vendors. Xuelin has offered a 10% discount on TaoBao for people that have other Xuelin models, but they may not offer this to people outside of China/Asia... I'm sure the sound quality will be great, but I'm afraid the firmware for the 990 will still be a bit primitive compared to other players in the same price range.  I guess we'll find out soon, though.

I am also very happy with my rockboxed X3, but I wish that I hadn't lost my 770 and had a chance to rockbox it. One thing I really love about rockbox is how you can rig it up to auto-resume simply by powering on the device. That would have been especially beautiful for the 770 because otherwise you have to stare at the key pad to do a bunch of button presses in order to get it resuming (which drove me nuts when groggy in the middle of the night).

Cool - I found my long lost 770! Now that I'm used to the Xduoo X3's buttons, I had to cluck like a chicken staring at the 770 screen before re-figuring out how to operate it lol.

Anyway, I'm very happy to have it back in my arsenal, and I look forward to rockboxing it as soon as possible :)

Is the newer version after 06 / 2016 of ihifi 770C worth getting?

I may plan to get it from aliexpress as its lesser price @79USD & the seller mentions it has warranty for 12 months but I may have to change the language to English.
Does iHIFI 770C asks for language selection on first start up?

Currently my budget will be strictly around 80USD including shipping as I may have to pay customs duty anywhere between 30% to 50% here in India.

New Hidizs AP60 is also coming by 15th Sept 2016.

Most of my older collection is ripped  in 320 kbps but now slowly moving on to FLAC rips but will not be going over the native CD resolution of 16-bit/44.1kHz.
My preference is musical & not too analytical so slight warmer tone may suit me but not too much.
Headphones in use Philips SHL3300 & Samson SR850,also planning for new IEMs may be SoundMAGIC E80.

I am even thinking to get FiiO M3 & soundMagic E80 combo for time being & the later on move on to some decent DAP under 100USD. One of the Indian FiiO distributor offering me M3 @Rs.3750/- approx around 55-56USD

Thanks in anticipation.

Don't worry about having to switch languages on the 770C.  This is pretty standard and easy to do.  XVortex is working on Rockbox for the newer 770C (6/2016) models and if he is successful, then this will clearly increase the value of the 770C for you.  The Xuelin firmware can be quirky with FLAC files, but the Rockbox firmware solves this problem completely.  The 770C has 2 HO ports and (in my opinion) there is enough difference between the 2 that I'm pretty sure you can find the sound you are looking for.  I think the new 770C is a good deal for $80 to 100; and if XVortex can work out the Rockbox for it, then you will get much more value for your money.  You might consider sending XVortex a PM and see if he has made any progress on the Rockbox port for the latest version of the new 770C.   Good luck.

Hi guys. Few months ago, I've managed to drop my ihifi 770c on the floor. It ripped off one of those S226J (tranzistors?) thingies that are inside player. I am thinking of buying soldering iron and try to repair it myself. But I just cannot find the place on earth where could i buy the small S226J  thingy. Can you help me with that? Thanks.

Well, two minutes session of google told  me you are unlikely to buy themonline in one piece (bulk only).
Do you have any local radio-parts shop? Ask them.
BTW it is likely to be made by Fuji Semiconductors.
