Ihifi 770 & 770c Thread
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:18 PM Post #1,202 of 1,351
Hi, I have 770C dated July 2016 (timestemp on the paper box) and the stock firmware is v2.02 (NEW770-8740_v2.02).  Do you think I can safely upgade to the latest firmware v2.04b?

Someone has written that the newest firmware is only working with the very new units (>06-2016). So based on the date my 770C looks  like the very new unit.  But at the same time someone wrote that these new unit are coming with the latest firmware (2.03, 2.04) and my stock firmware is only 2.02.

So it is all quite confusing for me.  Anyone can help me?

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what to tell you.  Xuelin has not been very straight-forward with this newest round of firmware versions.  What is written on the back of your player itself?  is the date on the player 6/2016?  You might post a picture of the back panel so we can see it...  My impression (which may be wrong) is that the newer players had the date on the back panel of the player itself (not just the box).  I would not try to upgrade to the newer firmware yet, because I can tell you first hand that the new version 2.04 does not work on the older models....

I am not sure this is the right place to write it, but ihifi 990 is on Massdrop. And the MSRP they state is 500 USD (way more than was anticipated - people expected 300 USD MSRP, as I know).

Hi, i checked the mass drop - and it seems they're launching this product everywhere - Aliexpress, Ebay and Massdrop. It's super strange situation - where couple ads list it has PCM1792, and couple other list it has WM8740 (same as Xuelin ihifi 960pro).
I'm really confused, as the DAP itself seems very promising, but no information anywhere about it.

I'm not so sure, i've met information, that Xuelin new player will carry PCM1792 along with good amplification. You think mass drop could misread the specs?

Unfortunately there is no date on the back of the player. The only more specific info on the back is MSIP-REI-HHH-770.

Well, if (and only if) it carries onboard PCM1792 -then its probably the cheapest one with that dac. if not then it's just remastered ihifi 960. and it's not worth spending 300+ $ on it.

yeap, they did, isn't it hilarious???)))
i was going to jump in that train but told myself to hold on since it's not clear. But now - i wouldn't. Heard the ihifi 960 pro - wasn't impressed at all.
