Yes, Yamaha msp5. Currently I have them connected to an M-Audio m-track audio card with a balanced XLR to TRS cable. Greetings!
Well, I can only tell you about my experience in my studio with my Monitors JBL, I have always run XLR to them no matter what! After doing a test with both I found the 1/4 inch input to be just a little too hot for my liking. Since then I have pretty much tried to find any adapter I could to XLR, That is until I finally got my board for my home studio.

I have been using a Zoom L-12 for a long time now, so that kind of takes care of ever having to find another adapter.

As a Zen owner I would tell you to find an RCA to XLR cable and be done with it, The 4.4 will give you a better signal level than the RCA, but as you said 4.4 where you are is difficult. Can you buy from sweetwater? O ask because I saw you posted a link, and not sure who's available to you.

Cheers!

That is why I had the doubt of which cable to buy taking into account the levels of operation that the inputs of my monitors admit.
I think I will go by XLR to RCA as you say.

I think that's your best bet Until you could get your hands on a 4.4 to XLR, Does iFi ship to you? They recently announced a Pentaconn to XLR cable...

In Argentina, to give you an idea, zen dac costs between 400 and 600 dollars. Therefore the 4.4mm IFI cable (difficult to find) can cost more than 100 dollars. It has no logic. So I will first try a conventional cable until I get the right 4.4 pentaconn cable at a reasonable price. I also believe that it is part of IFI's business, the price of the cables and the 5v source.

Gotcha,...

So you know perhaps I didn't mention, I have never used a 5v source for the Zen. I tried it didn't hear a real difference so I didn't go that route.

Have always had it connected using only the USB cable, also it wasn't until a month or two later I found a 4.4 on Amazon that I was willing to "buck up" for around 30 us if I remember correctly, and that cable definitely made the Zen better!!

Good Luck!

Of course, but I can't find it in my country. Pentaconn 4.4mm is a connector that is practically not used here.
Wait, You can't have Ali ship that to you?? Just get the smallest size and add your own XLR to suit...

Thanks for helping out. Hopefully, we get a distrib in Argentina sooner than later so @compuchess can acquire our stuff easier in the future.

Excellent thanks! It must also be said that Argentina is a very particular country with imports and currency exchanges. We have taxes everywhere, to bring imported things valued in dollars they put obstacles on us.

I'm sure! It's not like I can go into town and get a 4.4 either lol!

Just a thought but Can you get your hands on a 2.5 balanced to XLR cable? Is this available to you?? Sorry don't know your currency translation...

This adapter I can get, 4.4mm to 3.5mm. If I use a 3.5mm to dual XLR cable, that would be fine right?

Although the 3.5 connector should be 4 poles so as not to lose the balanced signal

I honestly don't know on that one, I personally have never seen or used a 3.5 balanced, not even sure what it's used for? lol

Hey if they have a decent return policy try it!! It can only not work, you still have the RCA to XLR option that will work until...
