So this is happening to me. Tried 2 different cables (**** & HifiHear) and both are exhibiting the exact same issue (push the plug in all the way and sound only comes out the left side, pull the plug out maybe 3-4mm then sound now comes out of both sides).

Anyone else experiencing this?
Yes, me too. I have a set of custom cables for my sennheisers and I have to pull the plug just a little out to get them working. Can't remember if the stock cables did this too. I now run Hart Audio Cables for all my headphones and use their hot-swappable interconnects and I don't have this problem anymore. I'll test this weekend and see what I find with different cables. And also worth mentioning. Only the 4.4mm port does this

Do feel free to report back and we can go with assisting you both from there. I've gotten a few Hart Audio Cables during my time and they've always been wonderful.

Thanks for this. Good to know I'm not the only one with this issue. Looking forward to your report re: various cables.

We got some feedback from our customers about this and it's related to plug dimensions and tolerances.

For unbalanced connection I'd stick to RCAs only, namely RCA outputs from ZEN DAC into RCA inputs on your monitors.

For balanced I'd use ZEN DAC's 4.4mm output into thatever balanced input your monitors have, but from what I can tell JBL 104 feature balanced 6.3mm TRS sockets.
Ya, I need to find a good 4.4 to TRS. Thanks!

Same with me. the connections are pretty finicky.

You have it up on your website. It's the Zen DAC v2 with updated chip to support MQA rendering rather than just decoding. If anyone cares about MQA on 2021...

I'm perceiving a hiss with two of my IEM's when paired with the Zen DAC on balanced. It's kind of like a background static noise. After a while once I have paused music, the hissing goes away completely. Once I resume playing the song (Spotify, Youtube, etc), the hiss comes right back. If I close Spotify or the tab that has Youtube, the hiss disappears instantly. I'm using the Zen DAC solely powered by USB. This happens with multiple USB ports on my computer.

I don't think I've noticed this when using SE. And both of the IEMs I noticed this with aren't particularly sensitive, either (KZ DQ6 and CCA CSN).

Is it normal to get some perceivable hissing/background static when using a balanced connection?

Balanced signal is stronger, so sensitive IEMs might pick up some noise, and ZEN DAC works better if it's powered via our iPower rather than a 5V (usually noisy!) from a PC/laptop.

I am happy to report I just received my ZEN Dac V2. Do I enable (have the button blue) or leave the button off on Tidal MQA passthrough?
