I am going to go out on a thin limb here and ask if you can direct wire via ethernet from an iMac to the iDSD with the iMac being a Roon Endpoint in lieu of what I am currently using as USB B out on my iMac to USB A input on the iDSD? Hence using ethernet as the transport protocol for audio from iMac to iDSD instead of USB?

Thanks in advance

Works! :)
Still this is just a workaround but so far works. How can I autostart this at my roon core?

How can I autostart this at my roon core?

You have to power this software on each time you turn your Roon core on/off.

But you could set your task scheduler (on Win OS) to auto start the 'Squeeze2upnp-win.exe' program located in the bin folder on boot up.

somehow I succeeded using a simple approach to connect my ifi idsd pro with audrivana playing over wireless, without setting up my computer or router using my laptop. Simply i fired up muzo player on my iphone connected my ifi idsd pro to it, and then I opened audirivana on my laptop and saw that now I see I have the choice of streaming to ifi idsd pro

well sound wise nah usb sounds way better, whether streaming from muzo app or from audirvana on my laptop, both methods are not as great as usb, unless I am doing something wrong, if that is the case then I will keep trying to set up DLNA or whatever its called using my laptop, which sucks to do for someone who is not that great in setting up network play back, definitely not user friendly to do

This might be helpful. Not Audirvana, but still a tutorial to follow:

can i ask is the dac output from rca something that ifi can change in the future via a firmware or is that it, i wished ifi idsd pro form rca had more than 2.3 v output using the hifi fixed, something around 3 volts would have been nice like hugo2

I am bit confused why my ak sp2000 dap which has 2v output sound louder than ifi idsd pro when both connected to ifi ican pro although the output of ifi idsd pro is 2.3 v while ak sp2000 dap is 2 volts form the single ended line out

I do not know why when I use the xlr output form ifi idsd pro to my ifi ican pro its not that noticeably louder than when I use rca from ifi idsd pro to my ifi ican pro, very weird as the voltage output is double using the xlr output, very confusing, its just such a small volume difference between rca and xlr outputs into my ifi ican pro, very weird

heck even my ak sp2000 dap when used as line out into my ifi ican pro sound louder than when i use ifi idsd pro with xlr to my ifi ican pro, I am just confused totally to be honest. And doing the test is so easy as I am connecting all to my ifi ican pro so with a matter of seconds of using the input switch on ifi ican pro i can go from one dac to another

I really would like some input why this is form @iFi audio

also another question, can i use the xlr output of ifi idsd pro to go into 2 amps ( my stax amp and ifi ican pro at the same time) is there such a cable, and would that affect the output volts when I turn on only one amp at a time, as I dislike the idea to keep connecting and disconnecting the xlr cable cables every time I want to use my stax amp or my ifi ican pro with my ifi idsd pro

I really appreciate answers please

@iFi audio

Version 2.08 firmware still has not completely resolved the inversion of the Hifi and Pro output settings. The Fixed settings are correct, however the Variable settings are inverted. The setting marked “Hifi Variable” is louder over the iCan Pro than the setting marked “Pro Variable” when the volume pot of the iDSD Pro is at maximum. This behavior is consistent whether one is using the XLR or the RCA outputs.

Will you be correcting this in a future firmware version?

Thanks.

Pro iDSD's line out specs are as follows:

Balanced XLR is 4.6V/10V in HiFi/Pro modes respectively
Single-Ended RCA is 2.3V/5V in HiFi/Pro modes respectively

Now your DAP (A&K SP2000) lists 3V at its line out: https://us.astellnkern.com/products/a-ultima-sp2000

... which kinda makes sense it sounds louder vs 2.3V in Pro iDSD

hmmm so u mean the hifi variable is louder than pro variable, that explains some more of things that was confusing me

i see, can i ask why u opted to a low output compared to hugo2 and even to ak dap sp2000 on hifi fixed
