With the hew firmware, is there a way to disable the wifi (other than just removing the aerial)?

+1 for this! I even thought about just getting wifi module out but this would void warranty...

And another question - ROON support? Any info?

Hi
I am a new ifi pro idsd owner and thanks to all the helpful posts on this thread.
My first post on this thread, hope it will be helpful.

I almost finished the break-in time (app. 200 hours) and the SQ improved after about 100 hours.

My personal observations:

1. As a "tubeman", my preferred settings combination is: BP, tube+, no up-sampling, 9 db gain, headphone output - 6.3 mm or 2.5 mm with adaptor. 2.5 mm has more power and resolution to move the Susvara.
2. I Received a week ago NOS WE396A , replaced the GE's carefully and they perform perfectly.
Significant SQ improve - Bigger sound-stage, thicker female voices, tighter bass and better focus. Still under break-in and careful review on a daily basis. It was worth for me to take the risk, but this is a personal Risk Management Decision.
3. Another upgrade I made, received and connected MCRU REGULATED LINEAR POWER SUPPLY FOR IFI Audio Pro iDSD . Noticed immediate improvement.

Bottom line, I think that the idsd pro with both (not cheap) upgrades - NOS WE396A tubes and Linear PS, is unbelievably versatile dac-streamer-tube headphone amplifier and excellent value for money, even compared to systems cost 6-7-8 times more.
(I have no any commercial relationship with ifi audio and no other personal interests)

Questions/problems:

1. Is there any FUSE inside, and if yes, at what value&size and where it is located ?
2. I am listening to Tidal with a fast and stable network connection. I often, too often, have 1-2 seconds dropouts. Anybody has an idea where it comes from? The Tidal works flawless from the same network connection with my other network streamer. (Linn)
3. This question had been asked before. Is it possible to completely dis-activate the wi-fi module ?

Thanks.

I see improvemnt too after about 100h

LINEAR POWER SUPPLY for 600£? Umm no thanks, i rather but better USB cable (and i just did) and hear difference.

I don't think that Pro IDSD/Pro ICan has fuse.

5-6 times better? So u think Pro IDSD is now better that dCS Bartok for example?
My friends listen both and Pro IDSD is no match for Bartok...

Thanks to you for this interesting post!

Regarding your observations:
2. Where did you buy your tubes? [About the "risks", the situation may differ according to the place where you live. In Belgium, we apply the European legislation. Notwithstanding what Ifi's community manager says, the warranty would only be voided if a deffective tube would cause some damage inside the unit. For any other matter, the warranty must be applied, with good or bad will, especially so since the tubes are disposable parts.]
3. What kind of improvement did you get from your LPSU? I gave a try to the HDPLEX, but the result wasn't convincing. The sound was different, but it wasn't what I was looking for. It bought the Pro Idsd for its fantastic sound, not for a different one. The same one, but even better would be great, however. :)

About your questions:
2. I also experienced some hiccups, at random moments, recently. It's something I didn't have at the beginning, so I suppose that it comes from a change in my network. I suspect that the unit's buffer is a bit too short and that the network irregularities may have a direct effect, where other streamers absorb these interruptions. I'm not a specialist however, and it's just a wild guess, from what I've read in the forum.
3. Indeed, even with the aerial removed, it seems to cause unwanted noise at idle. I didn't find anything about its deactivation, in the manual.

I just bought iCan Pro as a company for iDSD pro.
There is a possibility to join with one power via DC loop out. But does it mean it's one power supply used for both or two and this connector just works as a remote on/off?

WiFi can't be switched off.

As for Roon, we're investigating it.

Yes, you can use a pass-through power cable into the DC Loop Out to connect the 2 together and power both off of 1 power supply. I believe the unit only requires 9v to 18v, and the included iDSD P/S should be 15v, 4A so it can handle them both. (Detail on pg12 of the Pro iDSD manual and pg11 of the Pro iCAN manual)

Those tubes are now the price of gold, aren't they?

WiFi can't be switched off.

It would be the cheapest possible way to improve the (already excellent) sound quality.

I don't hear any WIFI negative feedback on my headphones using Pro IDSD.

It produces an audible noise in a hifi system, through the amplifier and the loudspeakers.

I really hope Roon would happen as current app that is supported is just totally useless and iFi needs to find some other solution. Roon sounds best for me and I really believe it will happen soon.
Already mentioned as a brand at https://roonlabs.com/partners.html site but not with any particular product. Not sure which one then but I assume that PRO line should go first.
