iFi Audio IPurifier3.0

It will change the sound, depending of how revealing is your system. I have found that controlling the noise of the mains and computer gives interesting results to the final experience of listening music.

The iPurifier is an interesting product, give it a try and post your findings here.

I used it with the Micro iDSD Black on a 2013 Mac Pro with good results. The Mac Pro is a very noisy machine.
Thanks for that. Have you (or anyone else on this thread) compared the iPurifier to the iUSB 3.0, or to a dedicated DDC like the Singxer SU-1?

Just started listening tonight and what I’m hearing so far is a ‘smoother’ sound, perhaps less ‘zing’ in sharper edges of guitar plucks and slightly smoother vocals. Does this sound consistent with others’ experiences? I’m just concerned it might be taking away some detail?

It's taking away noise and distortion. You actually get more detail. The smoothness is due to the removal of roughness that shouldn't be there. Ask anyone old enough to have owned a good vinyl system. That's how it should sound.

Yup, cleaner background for music and everything else associated. More music in music.

@iFi audio does using a USB 3.0 cable from the Mac/PC to the iPurifier 3.0 make a difference vs a USB 2.0 cable? Talking about well shielded but otherwise generic cables. And is there an ideal cable length?

As far as sound quality goes, USB3.0 vs 2.0 is the same. We pursued the 3.0 standard to futureproof our cables and that's it. Length of a cable is a subject of debate. From practical side of things, as long as you don't plan to use some crazy lengths, you should be good, but many people would say that the golden middle is 1.0m. If you don't need longer, this one will do.

hi gentlemen,
currently I have involvement: fanless nuc with linear source - usb mercury - iPurifier3 to iUSB (original, not 3.0 version, linear source) - usb ifi gemini. If I add it to the iGalvanizer string (before iPurifier), do you think it will be beneficial?

iGalvanic will provide an upgrade (galvanic isolation) iPurifier doesn't do, so yeah, it's worth going this route.

I currently have the iDefender3.0 and iPurifier2.. Getting the Nano iUSB3.0 soon..

Was thinking, is it better to just use the iDefender3.0 + Nano iUSB3.0 only?
Is it good and clean enough?
Since Nano iUSB3.0 alone is already good cleaner and have better internal component that do better job at reclockbalancegenerate?

Option 1
Would it add any benefit or perform better or worse to add the IPurifier2/3 after the Nano iUSB3.0 and just before entering an external powered desktop dac like the SMSL SU-8 V2?

And for the most ideal dreaming chain. Would this chain give any benefit or overdone?

Option 2
Isilencer+ > iDefender+ > Nano iUSB3.0 > IPurifier3 > DAC??
