Will iFi Audio iDefender 3.0 work without power supply? My USB converter doesn't require power and is switched off on USB card. Will iFi Audio iDefender 3.0 transmit signal anyway?

If your DAC is self-powered, then yes, iDefender3.0 doesn't need separate power supply. If your DAC runs on 5V, then you need one.
This mean own power supply without need of power from USB.What do you mean by "self powered"?

You not pass EMI tests anymore. It's not only about internal GND, but also shield. Commercial units therefore need to connect everything as suggested by the standard.
Connecting only the data lines has the potential to fry the USB chip port with unexpected static or spike electricity, either when switching units on/off or by disconnecting/connecting.
@iFi audio according to RME cutting out the 5v/gnd makes the usb cable not pass EMI tests anymore due to shielding, i'm wondering how does the idefender make sure that the shield is still effective in the usb cable.

Just checking, does anyone uses idefender on thier android phones?
Like-- Smartphones --OTG--idefender 3(injected with 5V )-dac that need external power?
Hoping to supply enough power to dac without draining power from phones.

It should work, though iDefender should go in before your OTG cable.
@iFi audio just wondering but how do i know if the idefender is letting 5v through, or not from the PC, does the led light turn off, or something...
