iFi audio iDefender3.0 (Official) - Ground Loop Eliminator
Nov 23, 2021 at 11:40 AM Post #76 of 87
Please correct if I'm wrong, my understanding was that galvanic isolation was a one and done thing? Are there levels of galvanic isolation?

Your iGalvanic3.0 has three settings engaged via its knob, but only the middle position (ISO) provides the full galvanic isolation.

As quoted directly from the site "It significantly reduces the system noise floor and makes for better dynamic contrast, warmth and resolution."

It does exactly this. The difference is not huge but I can hear it.

As far as USB accessories go, their input stacks. iDefender's primary purpose is to handle ground loops, but it also trims some noise and that specific work stacks. The odds are that you could put in your setup two or three more and with each you'd notice some improvements. iSilencers would also work and so would our reclocker micro iUSB3.0 on top of everything else related to USB you have. There's no end to this really, it's quite fascinating how much can be done with USB and how much it changes along with extra components.

Very interesting, thank you for the explanation.

Would the igalvanic and iusb3.0 combo be comparable to a ddc with an i2s or spdif connection to the dac?

DDC devices don't work solely on USB and that alone factors in a lot (differnet inputs and outputs can impact sound) and we don't conduct such tests, but we're still open to our customers' findings

After some time letting the idefender settle in, I can't believe I let this slip past me for so long.

It is remarkable the difference it makes.

My chain was Furutech e-TP80 (PLC) > PC > iFi nano igalvanic3.0 (Shunyata Venom usb) > Denafrips Ares II (Wireworld Silver XLRs + JPS Labs Digital AC-X Power cable) > Audio-GD Master 19 (JPS Labs Superconductor FX XLRs + Furutech FP-S55n with FI-46 connectors) > Wywires platinum headphone cable > headphones.

I thought that I had for the most part as my budget allowed, maximized noise reduction until I installed the idefender in this chain. It is frankly, amazing that this little device can do what it does. If I had to build another system, I'd start with the idefender.

I'm very dissappointed in myself because I listened to a certain fat idiot that runs a certain website that claimed your devices are snake oil and sometimes added noise.

Btw you guys are terrible at marketing your products. Had I known more about your products prior to accumulating all my cables, I would have looked at the ifi lineup first.

It is what it is. Everyone can say whatever they like and as a manufacturer we're perfectly fine with that. The proof is in the pudding, as they say

We're very open about what our products do and how, but if you have any extra ideas what we can do better, I'm all ears :)

Maybe an official youtube channel might help, demonstrating how best to use the products. What they do, where to place them, best application, what to expect, etc.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million.

Most people these days don't seem to read unless its been twatted? am I saying it right?

Killing me, you call that marketing? I didn't know that existed, it never came up in any google searches while I was researching ifi stuff.

Wheres the scientist in the lab coat holding a beaker stating the science shows it works?

Wheres the string bikini models dancing in the background?

You guys are British right? I recommend getting a scantily clad Alice Eve to bend over alot to demo the products, while showing how they work in a system. Stuff will sell like Beats Studio 3 in 2018.

Marketing bro, you're welcome, get to work. :o2smile:

Yeah I dont know crap about marketing. But really a video with some explanation of how / why it works along with a demonstration of how best to chain them together in a system would be helpful.

So if I have an igalvanic, idefender, ipurifier, and isilencer what would be the optimal configuration in the chain?

iGalvanic3.0 followed by micro iUSB3.0 and three ?USB cables in-between is the best USB setup we have.

Unfortunately, the iusb3.0 is out of my price range and I already have the aforementioned items in my inventory.

Could you recommend the optimal configuration for those 4 devices?
