How do you disable the buttons? That is not on the instructions card. Has IFI indicated they are working on a fix to this?
Four consecutive taps disable the touch buttons and another 4 enable them again

I tried to us the Gaia app which I downloaded for Apple 2 days ago to update the firmware. It said 0 software available. I also did not see a way to update Gaia itself.
Go to iFi Download Hub. Login and read the instructions on how to update on Apple.

I was able to download the firmware from the ifi site. Buttons are still flaky. they respond to taps but holding them down to adjust volume works infrequently. Got the left side to reduce volume once but it would not respond to the right hold volume increase command. I will see if they do the volume blast when I use them for a longer time at the gym tomorrow. I wonder if there is something physically wrong with the buttons as I did not experience the volume blast until after using them for 3 months.

by the way, one of my items is a UM MEST2. The trick to get it to fit in the case is to push down on the connector which pushes them out on their side. Then there is no problem closing the case. If they used an MMCX between the go pod and the connector it would make them easier to rotate to fit in the case. Also I have found it tricky to align the 2 pin connector with the holes at the top of the go pod.

If you need further info, it was very long ago that my go pod go malfunction after reset, so I returned it and get refund. The open ticket I did on ifi support tell me to return the unit so it seem there's no fix

Further info: it seem Green and red flash mean the unit is reset or have corrupted firmware and I think only low level bluetooth connection via manufacturer factory can fix this ( wide band bluetooth scanning show device address without name, but can't connect)

I used the Go Pods at the gym today, the first time after downloading the firmware from the IFI site yesterday. They seemed promising at first. The volume up and down button commands worked and I did not get the sudden volume increase during my 35 minute workout. But then, just as I was about to take them off, there was a beep following by the volume increase. The new firmware did not fix this. I put in a request to IFI to exchange these and copied Headphones.com where I purchased them. Maybe a new pair will not have have this problem. Hopefully I will have a response this week.

The sudden volume increase to the maximum is not some defect of your item. It is the same for all the GO Pods and it is happening due to the very sensitive touch buttons.

The only way to avoid this is to disable the button functionality by tapping four consecutive taps. You can then change the volume from your phone or other device. When you want to activate the touch buttons again, just tap on them another 4 times.

I checked out the Go Pods while I was wearing them in a mirror and there is nothing near the touch buttons. If they are overly sensitive, what is triggering them without touching them? Is it sweat? Motion? Why did I not experience the sudden volume increase issue until I used them for 90 days. Why am I not experiencing a analogous sudden volume decrease that would result from the same button commands from the left Go Pod. I had been consistently using them in the gym during my workouts and began to experience this issue only during the past week.

I did verify that the tap 4 times disables them. That will work as a short term fix but this is a design flaw and should not be considered normal operation. I would hope IFI is working on a fix. I agree exchanging them does not make sense if they all have this issue.

Also in the app you can adjust the sensitivity. I believe it was recommended a bit ago to try 65ms for those having issues with this, but obviously, you can try whatever works for your situation.

Hope this helps a bit.

Cheers!!

Interesting questions!

How about opening a ticket, asking all of them, and then return here to post the answers?
This is a nice way to help all the other owners. 👍

IFI AUDIO in a post above suggested updating the sensitivity in the App. I don’t see that in my Gaia app (V1.2.5) on the iPhone. The menu consists of Codecs, Bt Name, Filters, Software Updates and Factory Reset. Is there a more current version of Gaia and how do I download it?

Here are the options I see on my GAIA App for Android 14 on my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Not sure about the iPhone version.
