iFi audio GO pod + IEMs = brilliant wireless sound on the GO!

Maybe, just use Bluetooth Codec Changer App, as it shows which LDAC playback mode is activated while listening sound.
Thank you for this, friend!

I have no use for this App but I got it just to check the current codec playing.

It confirmed that LDAC 990/909kbps is actually used on my S23 Ultra, after setting it in the Developer Settings.

So I am testing out the replacement unit that iFi sent me. Checked firmware in GAIA app, 1.39 is still the latest version. Decided to try out the Go Pod with my iPhone first. The touch controls worked flawlessly with my phone. Next connected with my Sony DAP, Android based, my primary source for listening to music. With the Sony DAP I am still having the same touch control issues I had before. Holding down either the left or right to adjust volume does not work. Double or triple taps to skip music does not work. Simply tapping the touch control once would stop music and disconnects the BT connection to the DAP. Is this a Sony/Android problem or is this a Go Pod problem…🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯. So frustrating…
Works with my Android S22 Ultra.

Yes I have deduced it to a possible problem using the Go Pod with the Sony DAP. I did a test with an old Onlyo DAP I have which is also Android based and the Go Pod touch controls worked fine with that DAP. But when connected to my Sony WM1AM2 the Go Pod touch controls basically becomes useless.

Sorry to hear that! File a ticket with iFi anyway since they may be able to implement a workaround…

Yes, please take a moment to let our support know the issue you are seeing, as @jsmiller58 said, it is important to report these types of things so a log can be created and hopefully solve these issues.

I don’t know if this warrants a ticket with iFi since this now only an issue when using the Go Pod with my Sony WM1AM2. I did a couple of tests pairing the Go Pod with my iPhone and an old Onkyo Android-based DAP, and the Go Pod touch controls worked flawlessly during both tests. The testings I did tells me that this may not be an issue with the Go Pod itself. Perhaps it’s an issue pairing it with the Sony DAP. Which is a shame since my WM1AM2 is my primary source for listening to music. I’m hoping someone who has the same gear as me could shed some light.

The suggestion was not so much because iFi has a bug, that maybe iFi could easily create a workaround for the bug in the WM1AM2… :)

I try reset my Go Pod and now it stuck on flashing red and green and no longer connect to phone. Any help would be appreciated

@iFi audio
@Mr BubbaHyde

I have a question regarding this auto-detection IEM impedance function of the GO Pod.

On the first post you say:
To ensure its output perfectly matches the connected IEM, each pod auto-detects the IEM’s impedance and adjusts power accordingly. There are four settings – 16 ohms, 32 ohms, 64 ohms and 300 ohms – with the setting most appropriate to the connected IEM selected automatically.

Can you clarify how this works?
For example, if there is an IEM with an impedance of 22 Ohms, will the GO Pod adjust the power for 16 or 32 Ohms? Is it capable of adjusting for 22 Ohms, in this case?
If not, can this impedance skew cause muffled/veiled treble and upper midrange or other frequencies?
Is it possible to have an AUTO-DETECT IMPEDANCE ON/OFF switch in a future firmware update and the relevant toggle button in the GAIA App?

I am not familiar at all with how this works, so forgive me for my ignorance.

The reason I am asking these questions is because my IMR Elan+ does not synergise well with my GO Pod. The upper midrange and treble sound muffled/veiled to me. Crispiness and clarity is missing and this steals the spark, the heart of the music. I do not get this feeling when listening to my Elan+ with my Mojo 2, they sound magnificent! What surprised me, though, is that my FiiO UTWS5, as well, plays/drives my Elan+ decently. It cannot be compared to the Mojo 2 but nothing feels recessed/veiled/missing in the treble and upper midrange.

Here's the Elan+ specs:
10mm bespoke CNT ADLC Driver (Carbon nanotube amorphous diamond like carbon) + conduction motors + balanced armatures.
8 acoustic audio nozzles + 6 acoustic dampers
2 Pin detachable OFC braided cable (3.5mm/2.5mm balanced/4.4mm balanced)
Frequency response: 8- 42000Hz
Impedance: 34 Ohm
Sensitivity: 101 +/- 3DB
24ct Gold plated 3.5mm Jack

I am looking forward to your reply in a reasonable amount of time.
I've just opened a ticket, too.

Thank you.
Regarding this, important, post of mine, for which I've opened a ticket on 10 July 2023 12:54 pm, I have not received any response from iFi, yet.

I've received two(!) responses from IMR Acoustics, though! (And this is what I consider as Excellent Customer Service!)

In both of their replies, they say that, indeed, an impedance skew can cause sound distortion, IF this is what's happening here.

Now I am waiting for an official response from iFi Audio regarding how this "auto-detect IEM impedance and adjusting power accordingly" really works.

Really hoping I won't have to wait for ever.

Good point! I’ll open a ticket and see if iFi can give some insights into this.
Thanks for doing this! It does help keep "a log" so to speak of things that aren't quite right, I appreciate it, especially because post can sometimes get lost here, and folks reading back pages is limited!

Cheers!!

I have also asked the question again for you.

Cheers!!
Thank you very much!

I hope they will also reply to both of us regarding: if the option to enable/disable this auto-detection-impedance feature can be added in a future firmware. If it is technically possible and if iFi Audio would even consider it.

I mean the iFi social media rep can't even get a response from their actual tech support, and clearly customers can't.

I think they are more worried about developing their next devices then supporting current ones. We're never going to see an app for this in 2023 that's for sure.

I'm not having connection issues with the two pin connector at all so they're nice to listen to now. No more cut outs. So I am using this product more. And now noticing the flaws more often.

The cable is too stiff and short and pulls the IEM out. With the IE 600 I thought it was just because they were so small and deep in my ear, but it's even happening with the 64 audio U4S. I'm probably going to have to get a larger tip for my left ear because this is the first time I've ever had an IEM be pulled out of my ear by a device. I lose seal just by walking, This has never happened with an IEM before once I try my different tips that fit. The spin fit CP100 are my go-to overall and it"s still happening. And I've tried like six other tip types.

Sometimes when I put them into charge they just start to charge and disconnect, which is correct. Other times I miss notifications on my phone because I think the GoPods are disconnected after placing them away but really they are still connected even though they are in the case.

They just overlooked a lot of small details which add up to a big piece of day-to-day quality of life usage of this device.

Unfortunately there's nothing else like it out there. Ultimately the convenience of having wireless even with all these utilitarian screw-ups, You just got a deal until somebody else comes out with something better.
