95% of a frequency response target.

I think the Etymotic target still needs a bit more upper treble. Also, 2K is a little forward but oddly enough, the tone of voices sounds more natural to me than all over ears tested so far. A lot of them overdo the treble and give voices excessive air qualities.

ETY BT-ER2XR.jpg

Etymotion BT: USD$190, aptx HD, AKM AK4331.

No LDAC support is a shame, but otherwise seems OK.

I was looking at this and wondering if i should wait for it to be released. I ended up getting the Radsone es100. I am very satisfied with the es100 particularly with balanced connection. LDAC sounds great. This seems overpriced and late to the party.

Does it sound better from the es100 with balanced cable vs wired to 3.5mm out of phone?

Yes I noticed a difference. Stronger more control. More dynamic. Bass is stronger with out more emphasis. background is darker. Better imaging. Everything sounds like more control. If you are familiar with the Term PRAT, ( Linn - Naim concept) meaning pace rhythm and timing. Over all makes you want to tap your feet. Sounds like the players are more in sync with each other.

If I really enjoy the 2xr but would like another “flavor” of ety, can you guys describe what the 4se and 4xr would sound like in comparison? What pros and cons are there to the 4 models vs. the 2xr?

Alright I ordered the Spinfit CP800 since those seems to be compatible with 4XR which means there should not be any problem with my 2XR.

I will update here once these arrives with sound impressions.
Update on Spinfit CP800, these are really comfortable and sometimes I forget if these are there in ears or not.

Now the main part which is how do these compare with the default tips ie. medium triple flange. It’s a nice trade off for little bit of accuracy and details to soundstage and comfort.

Default triple flange tips sounds flat which can sound strange at first if not familiar earlier with that type of sound. Spinfit made it little normal sounding.

Feels like I'll never get my hands on the new dual flanges! I ordered a third pair of brand new ER2 series (including through Amazon UK direct, now another UK retailer) well after they were introduced and sold online but it's always triple flanges. Getting some serious FOMO.

Why not order the tips them from Etymotic directly? They now have them available on their web page. https://www.etymotic.com
