Now - who is gonna be the first person to guess WHY we specifically chose this type of donut (hint, not just standard donut)?
 
We are feeling good about ourselves as the micro iDSD just made it to Japan and will depart for Germany. More will become evident soon.
 

 
So my guess is - you have 3 prototypes?

a variation of icing on the cake but donuts are smaller. Three different flavors or sonic tuning as shown with the three prototypes would be my guess.

We swiped this off the R&D dept. when they were away doing some weird and wonderful measurements on their Audio Precision and other fancy measurement machines.
 
 
 


 


The machine for Japan is en route to the 2014 Spring Headphone Festival by FUJIYA-AVIC this weekend.
 
 
 
This particular machine is going to Munich for the High-End Show next week.
 
 
Yes, there is one more prototype that is going to another destination...

Looks good! So, I think I know the answer based purely on the layout, but does the RCA direct setting bypass the 3D and XBass features as well? Or does it just bypass the volume control? (It would be cool to be able to use the 3D and bass eq with non-iFi amps...)

i guess the first donut is = rca direct output sound (bypass)
second donut is = rca output with volume control sound
third donut is = your attenuator setting sound

what make me surprise is this micro dsd support quad dsd (you are the first i think make a quad dac under us500)
this micro idsd already have so many feature, just wonder "HOW IS YOUR NEXT MINI DSD DESKTOP VERSION "

I believe the RCA direct setting bypasses the volume control and the 3D and Xbass features.

another guess, so are you offering 3 different versions of the Micro iDSD for sale, or does it have removable modules that you can select (for example either optical in or coaxial in or coaxial out) or swap?

Three favors of DSD;  DSD64, DSD128 and DSD256. Never saw DSD256 in this price range.
