Looks cool! I can't quite tell, but is the USB receiver chip on a separate board that is elevated above main board? (the color looks a little different when I enlarge the picture.) It looks to be right next to the RCA outputs ...

Looks like that the USB part is a plugin card that plugs into the main board socket at the same level, not elevated.

The elevated power supply section was added in ready for the current version prototype which you can see below.

 
Partly to reduce noise and partly to make it easier to access during development. It is likely to become a mainstay of the final product.

 
Thorsten and his crew are rushing to a few micro iDSD prototypes units in time for:


 
1. Headphone Festival 2014 Spring by FUJIYA-AVIC (10th-11th May)

 
2. Munich High-End Show (15th-18th May)

 

So if you are at either of these shows by chance, you are very welcome to see these units in the flesh.

It looks like the bat is a bit more on the beefy side. Cant say enough about the sound of battery power. The nano sounds much better on battery. Needs to be kept topped off or it will run dry with 24/192 through the pipe. No prob, but a bigger bat is always good.

Correct me if I am wrong but let me have a guess:
 
Donuts are tasty. I LOVE DONUTS They are sweet sounding?
 
3 donuts of completely different design and taste because iFi iDSD will feature lots of function which will suit any type of use, PC, TV, etc. Different taste that will suit anyone [3D and xBass boost]. It may also mean that it is capable of driving almost every headphone with it's high output power.
