The prototype only sounds like this:

....YUMMY!!!  (good call Roamling)

Now - who is gonna be the first person to guess WHY we specifically chose this type of donut (hint, not just standard donut)?

We are feeling good about ourselves as the micro iDSD just made it to Japan and will depart for Germany. More will become evident soon.

Vince was chatting away to Thorsten, explaining how hilarious some of the name ideas for the new Attenuator are. Thorsten was supposed to be busy testing an industrial hole punch they've been working on (New sideline IFI are moving into. It's called the I-hole) As Thorsten was distracted by the hilarious conversation he roared with laughter slipped on a banana skin that just happened to be on the floor, fell onto the I-hole, which just happened to be next to the prototype and accidentally stuck a whopping great big hole in it, hence the picture of the donut with a hole in the middle.

Simples!

What is my prize?

I was thinking of yummy donuts all day... really

Then went shopping this evening and found one that looks like one of the three ifi mystery donuts! I could not resist to buy it and take a bite even before making a photo of it....

So whatever idea is hidden behind the pink donut... I take it!

Pretty cryptic Vince.  Is it to demonstrate there are layers of 'flavour'?

Oooooooh. Really warm. There are actually several different angles rather than just 1. So it wouldnt be too specific for you guys to have to nail.

Okay, a bit more for you...

Ok then, your standard donut has one hole and is delicious, those donuts have the same one hole but many other options, like sprinkles, icing, different colours. Similarly the idsd micro has standard outputs (holes) but they themselves have different options, X-bass, 3d, digital filters as well as the ability to morph from outputs to inputs!

Btw -I love the combo coax in/out and optical in port, that was one of my suggestions on my wishlist,

My impatience got the better of me. I placed an order for the iDSD nano yesterday :) Hopefully that will hold me over until the iDSD mini is released. I really want me some balanced outputs, lol

i'm excited about the mini, too. i'm sure they'll be taking some of tech from the AMR-DP777 and making it a bit more wallet-friendly...and i, too, want me some balanced outputs!

new DAC of iFI-Audio "micro iDSD"

micro iDSD

iFI-Audio was the world premiere at the festival headphone DAC built a prototype portable headphone amplifier "micro iDSD". We are targeting the launch of the summer, price is undecided, "Do not go until Odai (100,000 yen)" It's expected.

As "(monster full of Miti Monster = contents) Meaty Monster", British iFI-Audio has developed, DAC uses the "dual core 4 signal bar Brown DAC chip". Corresponding not only PCM, also playback of DSD / DXD file.

In addition to operating as a USB DAC, it has a coaxial digital input / output terminals, can be connected to the portable player with a digital output. With one system standard terminal, headphone output is also available analog audio output of the RCA. I have a built-in battery of 3,000 mAh so portable amplifier.

DSD support 2.8MHz (DSD64) / 5.6MHz the (DSD128). Sing the officially supported at this time it's up to 5.6MHz, except that there is also a character shows the DSD 11.2MHz corresponding "DSD256" on the back, tried by preparing a 11.2MHz DSD file actually in this exhibition, reproduction that could be. But DSD256 little support, micro iDSD portables even seem capable of processing in hardware but also in the stationary machine.

listen of micro iDSD also possible, and has been popular with visitors.

That is one fine looking piece. Can't wait to hear it. Need to start saving. 100,000 yen, approx £600, is that around the price point?

I thought the micro was going to be around USD $500...maybe with some of the new additions the price had to increase a bit...but $1000 would be quite a jump up.

ouch. true. at least based on the 100k yen stated above. That's gonna hurt wallets.  Wondering what will the mini cost then?  Vincent, can you comment on the pricing - a ballpark figure would be nice to know so we can start breaking piggy banks
