just looking at your PC specs i think some extra ram might do. How much ram do you have installed? I am only running a Intel i5 processor but I have 8GB installed, My score came out at 3009.

here is one more picture, I am still experimenting with the setup. I have this OTL based tube headphone amp from Garage 1217, it looks 100% DIY but sounds very good.
The tube plugged in is the only driver, no op amps, its a Mullard Tube made in 1955!

So here you have it, super high rez meets old school tube (and sounds wonderfull together):

6GB Ram... The other thing that bothers me is although it is a 2.00 Ghz Processor it has Turbo to 3.00 Ghz... I wonder if the Benchmark even puts enough stress on it to get it into Turbo Mode...
When I use DBpoweramp Batch Converter all 8 Logical Processors are shown speedily converting music files...

Dear ifi team!
thank you very much for your answer (jrmark of 3000)!

As a DSD Newbie I hoped that the hardware requirements for bitstreaming of DSD files are lower than for converting DSD to PCM on the fly. Just another question: Are there differences between the hardware requirements for playing already existing DSD files (bitstreaming)
a) using the native ASIO method or
b) playing DSD over PCM (Dop)?.
Thank you!

Nevertheless: Even if my pc is to weak for DSD, I am looking foreward for the reviews of the micro playing PCM files (the first impressions I have found on the web are very convincing!). And pc´s could be updated

Here are some more pictures of my home setup:

Cyrus 8 amp with extra Cyrus power supply and KEF Q500 speakers (connected with Kimber 4TC)

the micro iDSD is connected to the Cyrus amp and an iPad as source playing some German Speed metal (Qobuz, lossles Flac) and John Coltrane in native DSD (Onkyo HF Player, unfortunately I wont use DSD playback from this app any further due to issues with loud pops)

The Headphone is a Sennheiser HD 650

Oh my, that is beautiful, Audiophilia porn!!!!!:see_no_evil:

Hi,

Any idea if the 2nd batch of idsd has arrived in Singapore yet for stereo? Didn't get any call yet and envying the lucky first 5.

Cheers!

Hi manualvin

I'm in Singapore and enjoying the iDSD Micro so I'm one of the lucky 5. Didn't realise there were so few in the 1st batch :)

Listening to Bon Jovi's This Left Feels Right album now. Awesome.

cheers.

Thanks yes I called up stereo today to enquire, was quoted mid to end august! WHAT??. Anyway I'm out of Singapore next week so don't mind waiting and audio drooling. Mind sharing the setup and pics of the gear you are using and pairing?

Cheers,

I have had the iTUBE for some time now. It is entirely possible that the Optimal Transient filters on the Audiolab 8200CDQ already reduce ringing to a sufficient degree that the anti-dote has little left to do.

Reading the reviews about the iTUBE, one might easily conclude that the presence of the tube somehow makes the sound more special or more musical or less grainy or less fatiguing or some other typical audiophile description of tubeyness but this was not my experience (and I did try hard to discern some difference).

Maybe the T1 just isn't detailed enough or doesn't have a good enough treble response to show these differences. Certainly the Zu Druid MkIV's that I used to own were more transparent and more detailed than the T1. Maybe those using planar headphones or electrostatics will hear a difference.

For me the iTUBE was a waste of money as I don't really need the extra functions and it does nothing to the sound that I can hear. It reminded me to always treat reviews on the internet with caution. I could say the same about the micro iDAC. For me it was nowhere near as wonderful as the reviews all claim and did not in any way raise the bar at its price point.

The micro iDSD is a very different story. Given the choice between this and a second hand Audiolab M-DAC, my money is currently erring towards the micro iDSD being the better buy. As always though, use your own ears to decide.

I heard the iMon at a show last year. You should ask iFi to beta test it. They have quite a bit of special sauce that the average desktop speaker doesnt have. They demo'd it with and without the iTube mini and it an easy sell. So i bought the whole stack there and then. I wouldnt take out the iTube for love or money. Just me and my ears talking :)

Yes the iMON looks interesting. I approve of wideband crossover-free drivers (as does Thorsten - remember the Transparence?). Dome tweeters are generally the spawn of the dark one but may be tolerable as a supertweeter. Shame they had to put a hole in the iMON. I wonder if they will consider a larger version with a proper woofer? If it has to be a small 2-way then I prefer a closed box and add a sub if necessary.

EDIT: OK, it turns out that my brains have turned to scrambled egg here and I am in fact talking about the Retro LS3/5. The iMON is something else entirely.

iFi team - do you eat, sleep and s**t computer audio? How do you know so much? What i have learnt from following this thread makes me start to feel confident about challenging some comments by other posters and msnufacturers on other forums. For that you i appreciate.
