iBasso IT00 and AM05 Two very different IEMs with one purpose, to Enjoy the Music!

Yeah, those are basically a TWS version of the ES100. ES100 has more power, offers balanced, and EQ. But the idea is the same.

The issue is the people that are hellbent in just running quality earphones DIRECTLY from their run of the mill phones (which usually have mediocre DACs, low power output, and really high output impedance). Then they complain that the earphones sound screechy or tinny or hissing or whatever the case may be.

:face_palm:
That's one reason I don't buy or own "run of the mill phones". I have no complaints about the SQ of my two smartphones.

Using crin's compare tool, the IT00 graph tracks remarkably close to the E5000, minus some peaks at 5 and 8k. I think this explains why I'm so taken with both IEMs.That tuning has some secret sauce to it. The IT00's technicalities are solid for a sub-$100 IEM, though the E5000 sounds more refined as it scales better with higher-end gear.

If I hadn't already ordered a set (due to Covid-19 induced cabin fever), your review would've definitely put me over the top.

Just for giggles: once my set completes it's break in period, I'll be trying them out against the MoonDrop O.G.'s (DLC & KPE)

Look forward to your comparisons! I think u have quite a lot of other nice single DD stuff like the Toneking Ninetails, Fiio FD1 and JVC FD 01 to name a few. Would be interesting to see how those stack up against the IT00.

Nice one ☝. The 5* is well deserved - someone was advocating the notion a while back that iems counted as instruments in their own right with their own unique timbre...for me, the IT00s uniqueness is that they have an ethereal quality to them, extremely spacious and unforced. That light diffusion of the sound in the midrange really does it for me, enclosed by the slightly forward lower bass and extended upper treble.

This...these are some of the words I needed.
Exactly

I tried a few things to lower that mids warmth a little, but couldn't find a reversible and reliable solution. So, finally I ran out of patience and pierced the front vent, lol.

For a very expensive, reversible alternative: The IMR Acoustics Filters (AKA tips) having the same threading

The iBasso tip/filter (indicated by arrow) is shorter. So the IMR tips will give the added benefit of a slightly longer extension.

Interesting, but how are these supposed to lower bass? I understand that different front filters may tame the treble peaks. But to lower bass, we need to increase air leakage at the front.

My set of IT00 from Amazon arrives Tuesday now.

Knowing the IMR tips and filters fit the IT00 is just about the only thing making me want my Rah back!

I agree...it’s taking me time to deconstruct but...I know that I “want” to listen to them and that is how I know they’re special.
I think part of it has to do with that bass slope. It's not a shelf because it's not flat like now most audiophiles prefer their bass (like Audeze). It's a steady 10 dB rise starting at 1k and doesn't really begin to level off until around 40Hz. It's boosted, fun, and colored, but also linear in its own way. It probably helps keep the lower mids sounding fairly natural as well. Personally, with flatter or brighter sources, I make my EQ adjustments at 1k and above.

How is the fit? Does it stick out any noticeably?
The fit is good for me but as we have different ears, I cannot guarantee the fit will be good for you too. It does not stick out. Cheers.
