Finally got my 300max Ti! No.36

Playing with Meze Elite and Denon D9200. Time to end my game…

I’ve been borrowing the Meze Emite for a few weeks now before buying. I’m actually passing on it as it is not a good pairing for the already bloated bass. Mayb it needs more power than a DAP to drive it optimally. At least in my experience.

Speaking of volume I keep the number at 46 and high gain. The knob I henerally keep at 12 o'clock. 1-3 if I want to jam out for a moment. That's with my evos. I'm wondering others general output.


Also, I have run out of albums to listen to. Everything is getting boring so im hoping you guys can suggest some new music. Hopefully lesss known but well mastered stuff.

I really enjoyed Radioheads "OK Computer" on this unit. Also Cradle of Filth's "Damnation and a Day" and Coheed and Cambrias "second stage turbine blade"

I have digital at 90, medium gain and knob at 11 o'clock (with Ultimate on). I'd say pretty much anything from Daughters and Tool. For older stuff, check out UK Decay (quite ahead of their times, classed as punk, mistakenly in my view, more of a post-punk sound). Also Third from Portishead. Pain is Beauty and Abyss from Chelsea Wolfe if you like post-punk, goth, dark metal combos. For something more experimental, Swans' Soundtracks for the Blind is, for me, a must. Hard to find as Hi-Res, tho, typically they are Redbook quality, as with much of lesser known genres of rock.

I also own the 3max and the Elite.
I think, the Elite amd the 3max are a good match, but I realized, that the dynamics of the Elite increase dramatically with more power. So, the N8ii/ C9 or even RS6/C9 paired with the Elite ended up with better dynamics.

I think the elite has bloated bass. Period. I had also used it with my Violectric V281, which has 5W into 50 ohms and I still think the bass is an issue. I love a lot of bass, but this is not bass quality to me.

Actually your question is the same as mine. I haven’t had the max for a long time, and actually I’ve never had a DAP. I downsized from my full size rig. I think after having the Abyss 1266 TC, Simaudio speaker amp, and an endgame DAC, I probably have to readjust my thinking in going with a DAP and an efficient headphone. IEMs are not for me.

I’ll look at something from Dan Clark Audio, and Hifiman and see if something works for me, and my type of music, which is classic rock

I had the 220MAX with Utopia and I agreed with you, that was a really good combo.

I now have my Utopia with 300MAX with even greater results. More holographic spacious and detailed sound with a fuller presentation.

Terrific combo IMHO. As good if not better than my 8000$ full scale headphones system.

I should have patented my “EX” name.... that was a joke.

But I am not much a fan of AKM, just found out recently . So, not excited for it, but someone may still get my money .

Ooh that’s quite opposite from me. Except for ROHM, jury still out on that one. I like AKM and PCM1704 in R2R configuration.
