New FW v2.01 to update Android11 for DX300MAX Ti/SS has been released.
https://ibasso.com/dx300max-firmware/

Announcement on iBasso FB page:
DX300MAX Firmware update to Android 11. This is a local update. The file is downloaded and the firmware in the folder is then placed on an SD card for the update. The OTA over the air update will go up on Monday. Paul
This is the DX300MAX Android 11 firmware.
It is for local update.

Note: After update, DAC volume control button (+/-) disappeared...

Yes, but it seems that we no longer need those volume buttons. If you scroll down the notification menu while using any given music app, you will find a new button "Whired headphones". This little thing opens DAC volume slider 🙂

Thanks! I didn't notice that.

Now I'm trying Always visible volume button app recommended by @twister6 here.
I prefer +/- buttons with volume level digit display for precise control.

Bluetooth remote like this is another solution for me.

Is there any audible difference after the newest update? I'm kind of paranoid after what was reported for the DX320...

But Android 11 on the DX300 MAX?! How much better does it get?

The only major difference I noticed..... is that the color calibration of the lcd screen became really beautiful. Lol

Silly question: I should create a "downloads" folder on the DX300MAX itself and then place the downloaded file there, right?

If you are talking about the firmware v2.01 file for local update, follow the steps below.

1. On a PC, download DX300MAX-android11-v2.01.zip from iBasso server.
2. Unzip it, then you will find DX300MAX_full_ota_2.01.093.zip.
3. Copy and paste the DX300MAX_full_ota_2.01.093.zip to your SD card's root folder, or the DX300MAX's internal memory.
4. Go to Android OS, press Settings-->System-->Updater-->local update, and tap the zip file.
5. The whole update will take about 10 minutes. Reboot the DX300MAX after update completed. You can also choose to do a factory reset at this time to clear any artifacts from the previous firmware.

Or try OTA update. According to the iBasso announcement, it should be available starting today on Monday.

EDIT: OTA update is not yet available. It may be online next Monday Oct 10th.

Due to I guess more restricted approach to the system permissions in Android 11 it is impossible now to play music from the root of sd in Neutron 😟
Any ideas for workaround this?

I would contact Neutron.

Just create a “music” folder and add it in as a scan destination
Yes, it is another solution. But keeping all music folders in only-for-music-sd-card squeezed into one artificial folder seems counterintuitive in some way.
The solution introduced on the Neutron's web page works just fine 🙂
