iBasso DX200 Bug Thread - Post Any Firmware Bugs/Issues Here

Dec 3, 2017 at 10:33 PM Post #151 of 333
Latest Firmware 2.7.188

DX200 won't connect as USB DAC to a Macbook Air with High Sierra. Neither with Mango or Android. Changed cables to no avail.
The DX200 isn't showing up in the preferences menu under sound?

Hit the nail on the head. Thanks Paul.

What's the deal with updating apps through play store?

No, it doesn't. I have tried with the provided cable and with others but it doesn't work.
Same here. iMac High Sierra 10.13.1, "iBasso Audio HiFi device" does not appear in either Sound output (System Preferences) or Midi Audio Configuration (Utilities folder). I have used the cable provided and a USB 3.0 to USB-C cable.

If you are setting the DX200 to USB DAC mode and it worked on the previous OS then there must be something going on with the new MAC software.

When you turn on the USB DAC mode are you then tapping on it? This activates it and it should show up in preferences Sound.

Thx Paul.

I haven't had the chance to give the DX 200 a try before High Sierra. If I find a Mac with a prior version of MacOs, I'll give it a go. But anyway, are you going to do anything to try to solve the issue with HS? if finally there is one.

Please tap on the USB DAC that shows on the screen once it shows up. Then check the System Preferences and Audio.

I have finally got to make it appear as output in Sound System Preferences: "iBasso DX200" and in Midi Audio configuration as 24/768. The confusion comes from Settings, USB DAC, where a red band declares DAC ON. Actually, one must push the red strip to get to Back to DAP Mode screen:

i've tapped on the USB DAC and it doesn't work. Just like Paco shows in the previous post. I'll try it in another Mac.

I think this an USB thing. DX200 always reverts to USB for charging. Pulling from the upper screen, select USB for File Transfer or MIDI. Similar to what is done when one use Android File Transfer. Sometimes, this selection does not stick and must be re-selected. I hope this solves the issue, because I can confirm that the DX200 connects as a DAC in High Sierra.

Firmware: Tested in 2.7.188 (not tested before)
Bug: Faulty management of SD 256 Gb (tested in Mango)
Issue description:

1. Scanning a SanDisk Ultra 256Gb Micro SDXC UHS-I Class 10 card gets stuck at 0%.
2. Selecting a record from the directory plays only files at 16/44.1 and with some stuttering. Higher definition (24 bit) files takes some time to load (bar loading the file of a record) but does not reproduce anything. Mango starts to increase the number of the file and stops at the end of the record without any reproduction.

I'd suggest you to test your card with h2testw to be sure it is not fake.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Firmware: 2.2.110
Bug Found in: Mango
Issue Description: Background sound with a DXD file
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A moderately loud sound, hissing, is heard at the start of a DXD file. The sound diminishes in volume as the recording advances but without completely disappearing.

The file was originally recorded in DSD64 and edited as DXD. Therefore, the background sound could not come from the sound of a tape. In order to ensure that the DXD file was not faulty, I down-sampled the file to 24/96 and the background sound disappeared when reproduced in the DX200.

Firmware: 2.7.188
The load hissing continues being heard at the start of a 24/352.8 DXD FLAC file (another file from the previously communicated). The hissing is not heard in other portable DAC (Fiio X7 II), with Audirvana or iTunes (converted to DXD ALAC). The hissing lessen as the song plays. If the song is stopped and re-started the hissing comes back again.

Please email me and I can send you instructions and an update that should correct this.
