Disappointing as I was looking for a mid level DAP for everyday carry. Guess I'll wait out the R5 roll out and see what Sony announces in early Sept. Oh well.

What's wrong with this rockchip SoC? On paper it's identical with Snapdragon 425.
only on paper! 425 is one of the most balanced performance/autonomy processors
Ok, as DX120 wasnt too good i might skip this one and wait for the new DAPs of AR and Sony... .

425 is 6 years old, nothing balanced about it in 2019. Seriously why people hate that Rk3368 so much?
Reliable and time-tested stone. For the player you do not need more!
Yep 425 is old as is Fiios exynos and both are destroyed by current phone socs but in turn the 425/exynos destroy the RK3368. I think I sold my DX220 before it had finished booting 
I didn't really expect anything else when the expensive and huge DX220Max is using the same soc also lol but had a slight hope they would trial a new faster soc starting at the lower end.

DX150 boot rather fast, faster than any smartphone I've ever owned

They should upgrade the CPU to a MOS Technology 6510 from the Commodore 64, put the OS on cassette to get it booting quicker and then we can also play all our old tapes on our DAP too win win.

I've would not call it terrible but yes it is not very fast. I have probably gotten used to the relative slow interface
