I think DSEE is only supposed to be beneficial for heavily compressed files... and my X is too posh for any of that crap

I'm wondering if some sort of consensus has emerged during these 177pages concerning the best way to play movies on the X ?

- What format is recommended? (3gp, wmv, mp4...)
- What converter is recommended? (avi to...)
- What resolution is recommended?

Thanks for your help!

The demo videos provided by Sony are encoded in wmv 432x240. For standard 4x3 resolution use 320x240. I have encoded in avi and it looks good. You can use the Xilisoft video converter. I'm not sure what free software is out there.

If you have windows 7 you just drag your videos across and 7 does the converting for you.... No messing around, it's so easy.

just ordered one in UK from amazon

Sony X1060 = £192
+ free Sony VRC-NW10 video cradle
- £50 cashback (when I receive it)

all in £142 (well I paid 10 pounds more as I wanted next day delivery)

bargain indeed

Another custom IEMs which have good synergy with the X,... the Unique Melody Mage. With Mages, I can enjoy what I was missing from UM3Xs,... the treble and clarity. Now I can appreciate how good and detailed the S-Master amp is

. I am watching Transformers-2, converted from HD movie, and the sound effects were very clear.

I've just done the same - £142 after cash back, trialing the new Amazon Prime free 1-day delivery, so no added costs there.

Not sure how you got the VRC-NW10 for free though? Nice one.

Got my hand on X1061. First MAIN problem, hiss. HISSES. Abundant of it. On par with Cowon D2 based on my memory (if not succeed it..). The moment i turned on wifi, it get louder. But somehow it reduced if i leave it played for few minutes. But still noticeable.

2nd problem is slow transfer speed. God-awful 4 hours to fill up 28GB... 240++ mins! By the time it filled with 4~GB, battery already fully charged...

3rd problem i noticed is X1061 has lower capacity compared to X1060. About 0.5GB missing. Due to Slacker function? Can we flash X1060 firmware onto X1061? 0.5GB quite a significant amount of storage space.

4th, the internet browser is POS. I cant imagine how bad it can be until i personally tried it. The input method is worst than T9 method on phone. Luckily i have a proper phone with proper browser in it.

Now, for the PROS.
I got my X1061 used, USD191~

Dirt cheap but with few scratches at the back. Can easily fixed with carbon fiber decal covering the whole back.

Sound signature similar to Nokia 5800 but better refined, with way more resolution. Detail wise quite similar. Soundstage not very wide but across the whole spectrum, there's nothing much to fault. But the HISSES...
