I agree that this is a very special player, indeed. Songs never sounded so natural, so detailed. It really is worth the money.
I can say that the UM3x's sound almost full-sized with this player.

How did you get the beta working? Does it recognize the X? When I plug it in for my device I usually just see a single weird ascii character.

I click on find songs and it seems to do something but nothing ever comes up.

I'm running 2.0.2b1 which can be downloaded at [./this page.]

Tried it again and my player was successfully recognized as 'Walkman'. Took about 10-15 minutes, but the tracks were fetched. Scrobbling successfully as we speak.

Thanks for this. I'm going to try it. It's been driving me nutso to keep skipping through duplicate tracks. The Explorer method is too confusing, and it doesn't take much to confuse me

But what's more confusing is that all my music IS in my music folder

This is one of the biggest problems with WMP 11. It recognizes the uniqueness of track by the folder you moved it from not the file name. I went through a lot of frustration with duplicate tracks when i had loaded music from multiple locations. Now i load from one master repository have had no duplicates. I don't use the explorer as i found sometimes it messes up my ID tag:

So : If you have you master collection say in d:\Music\Albums.. Make sure you make this your primary reference for library in WMP 11. If there are other destination you can add them but keep them where they are once u load them into X. Then create playlist and load them .. it will automatically add the album to the player. If you need the whole album you can add it and it will definitely not add duplicates. So you really don't need to create a new folder specially for X.. that solution was B'coz he didn't have his master collection with him and wanted to create playlist from what he had in X. Alos if u see duplicates just delete the album and re load from the same location.. It is a pain but once u have done it playlist are a breeze

Hello to all,

-i am new to this, let me admit, superb audiophile forum, i found it by searching for infos and reviews of the NWZ-X1060, short time before o placed my order over amazon.de to buy it. Well, the price was relatively high (about 313€+17 shipping and handling), but i took the plunge and ordered. The company was not quite amazon, it was a reseller (german company) that sells over amazon.
Just a couple of minutes after my order, i got am email from UK (!!!) that they received my order and the player will be soon shipped. WoW! Company was Advanced MP3 Players. Not need to say i was kinda scared to read this, almost ready to cancel my order via amazon. Another couple of minutes after that, new email informed me that my order was in work and player will be shipped same day. My second WoW!
Returned to amazon to read customer feedback...was not bad at all, finally i discovered that i was not the only one who received items from uk. Not the 3. mail just popped up, my SONY was in progress to be picked up by FeedEx and shall be shipped within next 2 days. Whooow.
Second day, early morning...who is ringing? You got it...FeedEx. My third WoW!
Need to say..unpacking, first looks, first charge and first compare with my iPT...all already written here...
Simply amazing what Sony put here together.

Some time ago (think it was 3 months) i had the Cowon S9 (16GB).
Also from amazon. But after one week of fiddling with it, i simply could not get warm with...not the sound, that was ok, for me just ok, but the whole thing, design, usability, build quality...so i send it back. Left with my iPT and my Sony NWZ-829.

And now...the King of all...the X1000 series.
o2smile.gif

That´s my short and simple story...

The basic steps to encode the video are ,
1) Video : H264 Baseline profile. Level 2.1, Resolution 432x240 or 480x270
2) Audio : AAC codec. Any commonly used bitrate will do.

It works very well with ffmpeg.
Code:

Code:
[left]ffmpeg -i IN.avi -vcodec libx264 -vpre baseline -vpre hq -acodec libfaac -ab 128k -threads 0 -s 432x240 -f mp4 OUT.mp4[/left]

Thank you.

Sure, try iSquint, it´s free and you don´t need to fiddle with it, just drop your movies you want to convert onto it or into it´s open window and it will work.
I convert all my movies with it, just one thing: make an x on the H264 optione, you get better quality and smaller files.

cheers,

PS. this one is for Apple Computers (hope u use such things

Anything on the grapevine about a capacity bump?

My anticipation meter is on alert again for the iPod event (disappointing me with no 64GB player last year so 4G Nano was a makeweight)
But I would like others to match Apple capacity wise to make it more interesting

Thank you for your interest in my method

Since I am not using Windows anymore, I used GNU/Linux's Kernel Virtual Machine (KVM) for this tutorial.
smily_headphones1.gif

1) Download ffmpeg win32 with libx264 and libfaac enabled.
Komeil Bahmanpour: FFmpeg SVN-r17988-Komeil for Windows
Note: Not all ffmpeg-win32 has the libfaac enabled due to licensing.

2) Extract the ffmpeg.exe to the path where windows can find it automatically. Example C:\WINDOWS

3) Now get the libx264 preset files. You can get it here.
http://sites.google.com/site/bahathi...attredirects=0
This one is from ffmpeg's SVN in my working directory.

4) Extract the files complete with the exact directory structure to C:\
You should get directory with libx264-*.ffpreset files.
C:\usr\local\share\ffmpeg

5) Now start encode movies with the ffmpeg
Code:

Code:
[left]ffmpeg.exe -i Drive:\directory\to\IN.avi -vcodec libx264 -vpre hq -vpre baseline -acodec libfaac -ab 128k -s 432x240 OUT.mp4[/left]

Make sure -vpre hq is coming before -vpre baseline. The selected profile will be displayed before it starts encoding.
Example
[libx264 @ 0x1a54380]profile Baseline, level 2.1

To avoid errors, just copy and paste the code. Change the Drive:\directory\to\IN.avi to where your movie files located. It is not limited to .avi. You can convert wmv, mkv, ... too. There is limitation with ffmpeg, where you MUST use drive C: as your working directory, if you want to use the ffpreset files. (-vpre )

6) If everything run well, you will get OUT.mp4 in your current working directory.

Good luck
smily_headphones1.gif

Thank you.

Output example
Code:

Code:
[left] C:\ffmpeg>ffmpeg -i "M:\X.flv" -vcodec libx264 -vpre hq -vpre baseline -acodec libfaac -ab 128k -s 432x240 -f mp4 x1.mp4 FFmpeg version SVN-r17988-Komeil, Copyright (c) 2000-2009 Fabrice Bellard, et al. configuration: --enable-memalign-hack --extra-cflags=-fno-common --enable-static --disable-shared --disable-debug --enable-gpl --enable-nonfree --enable-avfilter --enable-avfilter-lavf --enable-avisynth --enable-postproc --enable-pthreads --enable-libamr-nb --enable-libamr-wb --enable-libgsm --enable-libfaac --enable-libfaad --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libspeex --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-libx264 --enable-libxvid libavutil 50. 0. 0 / 50. 0. 0 libavcodec 52.21. 0 / 52.21. 0 libavformat 52.31. 1 / 52.31. 1 libavdevice 52. 1. 0 / 52. 1. 0 libavfilter 0. 4. 0 / 0. 4. 0 libswscale 0. 7. 1 / 0. 7. 1 libpostproc 51. 2. 0 / 51. 2. 0 built on Mar 15 2009 18:16:31, gcc: 4.3.0 20080305 (alpha-testing) mingw-20080502 Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 1000.00 (1000 /1) -> 29.97 (30000/1001) Input #0, flv, from 'M:\X.flv': Duration: 00:04:12.55, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 608 kb/s Stream #0.0: Video: vp6f, yuv420p, 480x270, 512 kb/s, 29.97 tbr, 1k tbn, 1k tbc Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 44100 Hz, mono, s16, 96 kb/s File 'x1.mp4' already exists. I must admit, I'm interested in which one of the two (s9,x-series) provides more bass :p. Or if someone could compare the sound coming from the x-series to the s639?

I just got my X1060 for a few days ago. Before that I am using Iaudio 7.

After listening to a few days, that's what I notice :
X1060 :
The sound is more detailed.
The Bass is tight & punchy but not deep.

Iaudio 7 :
The sound is more warm.
The Bass is more deep.

I would not say which is better as both players have good SQ. It's depend wat type of listener are u.
I will need to check again when my ACS T1 is back from UK as I am listening with the Sony stock earphone.

The build quality of the X1060 is one of the reason that I buy as compared to AMP3.

I find that the noise canceling effect doesn't really help much.

The good thing I like about the X1060 is the button location. They did them at the right place. I can press the forward, backward & all the essential control without looking at it. The sensitivity of the touch screen work perfectly. The wifi work without any problem in my home wireless internet.

Hi Guys,

Just a quick one, been a while since i have been on here, a lot of pages flown by!

I currently still loving my Senn IE8's & occasionally my damaged cable E500's with my X1060, but i will be going to USA soon (next 3 weeks) ~ Vegas then Florida and whilst i am out there i want to get the JVC woodys out there if i can pick them up cheaper over there, but just want to know what model they are marked as out there? the FX1000's or FX550's?

Thanks to any answers in advance, will have to catch up on reading the last 50 pages when i get time!

Still loving this player and my recent impressions so far is how good this sonds when on the commute whilst walking or on the train, it sounds like a big proper hi-fi in my head with the vast soundstage and can honestly say i have not experienced that with all my previous daps.

Does anyone know when the official Sony accesories/cases for the X-series will be readily available in the UK?

It sucks they bring out the player and delay the accesories for them, i thought Sony got this sorted when the last HHD walkmans came out, perhaps not : (
