The sad thing is that most of the recommendations in this thread are rarely available in-store in Canada. Sure I can find the HD650, but for a price of $550, IIRC.

Living in Canada sucks for buying anything.

I want to try the DT1350. I wouldn't break the bank myself, and would definitely take the KNS8400 before anything else. But I don't really listen to metal, so I dunno...

the DT1350's aren't just for metal, not by a long shot. They ft for...pretty much every type of music I have listened to them with.

bcasey you bought the Sennheiser Adidas *cough* headphone for $199, that is not breaking the $200 mark at all.

It is when you consider the regular price is $299.

Consider gently used as well to help with budget. I got DT880/600's off Amazon (like new) for 199.99 and HD650's (one month old) from a head-Fi user for $300 shipped.

dt 880 /600s for 199!?!??

No that's not what I meant. I just meant that my suggestion for the 8400's was probably moot, since I have never listened to metal with those, or any cans for that matter... I'm sure the DT1350 are good for many other genres as well :)

Interesting, well my first real headphone (SA-5000) RRP and Japanese price is $699, so I guess I broke the $600 mark a lot earlier than I thought I did!! ;P

I broke the $700 mark with Tesla T5p and I'm glad I did, after my second headphone meet yesterday I only appreciate them all the more.
