Anyway, you can sell your G3.
But before you do, wait for my tests.
For now I can tell you that, testing without LDAC, they are very nice, natural, balanced, pleasant.
Not much personality. Which may be good for some people indeed.
But, I doubt you would like them. They do not get loud. Not as you want.
And the bass, well, I do not remember, where you a bass lover?
They are quite mild on bass. And do not do much more when EQed I am afraid.
But they do sound good. I like them.

I'd been waiting to hear your impressions of the 1ABT's for ages now!....I was pretty confident you'd like them!

I agree with your comments about the bass and character, which is the reason why I decided against keeping them. However, they do have many positives including a very clean, detailed and balanced sound, plus a great level of comfort!

I'll be interested to hear what you make of the LDAC + where you rank them on your list!?

I tend to like a pretty even sound. MDRXB950BT

It's a joke right? :)
You say even sound and then you name the 950?
You should describe your tastes more. That did not help to help you.

Patience... Just a bit more.
I have to test or re-test more than 30 headphones in 3 weeks.
It's not easy.
No idea for now, where I would place them.

Im anxious to try new Sony H.ear ap100bt, due out 4/12 i beleive, although pricey, $350 i believe

Only bother if you have Sony source that also supports LDAC as from what I can tell, it really is the only difference as the drivers I suspect are simply the same as with the MDR 100AAP. Giogio can better discuss this, but I take it if you don't have LDAC at both ends you will be getting normal Bluetooth and not AptX. That said, if you like the sound of the Sony it shouldn't matter, you will like it, but as Giogio and I were talking about earlier, I'm really not sure why LDAC would sound better? If I understand things it essentially allows faster sample rates and uncompressed streams? Again, it should be extremely difficult to tell the difference between a 320CBR file and a Flac, and even more so if you are in a noisy portable environment.

well the ap100 has pretty good reviews for sound and comfort, and i have sony zx100 as source so ldac is bonus, but not a selling point for me. Most have said ap100 sound even better than mdr a1

Yes I read that, but there were also a number of people who felt the 1A was better. At first there was nothing but hype for the AP100, but not long after you started to hear of people less thrilled. Good you have LDAC already.

To clarity, I bought the Sony's a couple of years ago mostly because of the price point and my general lack of audio knowledge...

With regards to what I like sound-wise, I might not be able to articulate it so well, but I do really enjoy my Etymotic ER-4's and hf5's, and I did enjoy my MW60's while I had them.

With speakers, I really like the Audioengine A2+'s.

Hopefully that provides some clarity as to my sound preferences (if that is a coherent set of examples).

Hi Guys!
I am new here and I am looking for an alternative to B&O H8.
I bought these headphones 2weeks ago and was very happy about them.
I did not experience any issues or drop outs.
Then, my husband borrowed me his Sony NWZ A15 High res. player so I can try to listen to some FLAC files.
The sound was really great - until I held the player in front of my face...As soon as I tried to put it into my pocket (forget to put it into a handbag) there were dropouts every couple of seconds. Hm..I tought it is the sony player so I have tried to pair it with my ipod nano. I wass allowed to put it into my pocket :) and the drop outs followed every few minutes..especially outdoors.
After that I have realized, that you can connect the headphones to 1device only! This is a joke for that price! My Mpow cheetah which I use for gym is able to connect to my ipod and iphone at the same time!
I am seriosly thinking about returning the headphones and buying an alternative. The look amazing (yes, I am a woman and it was also a significant factor for my decision) but they do not work the way I would like them to.
I would like to be connected to my iphone in case any call comes in and I would like to listen to music from the sony at the same time.
Could you please recommend an alternative? Can the Philips Fidelio M2BT do that?

Thanks

Silvia

100ABN supports aptx codec too :)

Hi Silvia, the B&O H7 solves that well known Bluetooth issue with the H8. That is why I avoided the H8 myself (and the reported bass being overemphasized). The H7 seems to have better range than either the Divine (the worst range of my three Bluetooth headphones) or the WS99BT. The H7 is excellent in every respect so far. I also feel there is a difference in the range from the transmitting device, but I can't be as sure of that. However, my DP-X1 and now my G3 both seem to have better range with the same headphone than my Blackberry Leap had. So if that is the case, you might also be experiencing the interaction effect and the Sony A15 (I owned an A17 for a time) perhaps actually has a weaker signal than did your previous device.

Regardless, you can try the H7 as it is well reviewed to solve both the H8 Bluetooth instability issue as well as improve the sound of the H8. I suspect B&O will let the H8 slip away once stock is gone, or if they produce a new run that the Bluetooth receiver will be improved.  Just speculating there of course.

Yes, thank you I had read that, but it wasn't clear how the user selects which connection is established? I am assuming with a non-Sony source it can only establish an AptX connection. Ultimately what I said holds so that if there are Bluetooth AptX headphone sound signatures somebody prefers, and they don't have a LDAC enabled source it makes more sense to go with something other than the Sony headphone. If what Sony has really makes a difference, and that is far from established now despite the fancy marketing talk, they should license it so that more devices are compatible. If they stick with their Apple like behavior and try to trap people into a Sony ecosystem experience I say good luck to them.

Thank you for the advice, I will visit B&O store and try the H7. To be honest, I am not sure if I still trust them. Can you pair 2 devices on the same time with the H7?

Never tried, I will see later today if I can do so. The H7 are very, very good for sure. I am extremely pleased with the Bluetooth range as I mentioned, certainly not an issue so far for me and as I said before, when you read reviews it is common that people say the H7 solved the H8 range issue.

Yes, the H7 can be paired with two devices, surprisingly my WS99BT cannot be paired with  more than one device at a time? Anyway, the H7 can.
