HM-901

On a side note to the above:
Plugging the HE-6 into HM-801 with Balanced amp sounds stunning, simply stunning! It won't play loud, only moderate to loud level, but apart from that I have only audio bliss. The tonal balance is spot on: the HE-6 has absolutely no sign of brightness or of being lean sounding. In short I simply LOVE that combo. For moving around in the house this is incredibly good. For portable  - well, the HE-6 just isn't designed for that. I am still waiting for my 901 and have hopes for that combo as well. It arrived Denmark (in my brothers suitcase) today ...

Running beautifully. High or low gain with volume knob at 7

Less exotic option:

Also running beautifully. High Gain with volume knob at 3.

(This is with the single-ended discrete pure class A board. Volume at 4.5 for balanced on balanced amp)

I believe the maker had stated on erji he is not planning to make more to sell...

I understand that the last announced but yet to be released hifiman board (U235 board) will have same or even higher output than this. I'm looking forward to that as running balanced improved the LCD3's soundstage and it would sound better with more power.

Anybody tried the HM-901 with Future Soncs's M5? I am feeling that this IEM might be a little bit off-the-radar in the States...

Just did comparison of hm801 to hm901 (both balanced card)

Single ended use to my shure se846, it's not even close. The sound is cleaner on the 901, more refined, and the mids are lusher, bass is tighter, and separation is better. I'm not sure if this is because of my shure synergy, because the balanced card sounds's single ended mode sounds better on the 901 (my game card for 801> balanced card in single ended mode, but I don't have a iem card for 901), or some other reason. I have a balanced adaptor on the way so ill try and compare the shures on balanced mode in the not too distant future.

Balanced to my re600, it's different. Vocals are lusher and sweeter on the 901, but bass is tighter and more energetic on the 801. There's a bit more texture to the bass from the 901 but I don't really like it- makes drums sound fat. Overall for the re600 balanced, I prefer the 801.
