:)

Your (solid state) headphone amp and headphone search has just come to its natural ending. No need to spend any more energy or money towards those any further.

Having said that, maybe the other parts of the chain may evolve further as time goes on as you may (or may not) see fit

ps: and that is mainly why my hekse is up for sale - it has no faults and is a superb headphone….but the susvara is better….and a few grand more
I think I read you had v280 before?
Does the Susvara has much more Slam with the us4 vs v280?

The v280 was under powering the susvara and the bottom end was lacking.
Otherwise the v280 is a great amp. (Except for the emoyreans were it was a little too dark/ warm).
the v280, for me, was fantastic with the lcd4 that i demoed a couple of times

as good as the v280 is, and as much as i like it, only when i went to the niimbus the v280 sounded veiled In comparison.
more illumination going on with the us4 and more texture to the sound and more of that “black background” that i read about. Those, for me, where the main and significant differences.

i never heard the susvaras with the v281

If I'm considering the Pass Labs X350.8, what are similar power amps I may need to consider? Not looking for an amp to alter any aspect of the Susvara, I really like it the way it sounds. My main goal is to find an amp that is somewhat neutral that sounds great with the Sr1a, Susvara and TC. The Sr1a is the driving force here for the change, but given the amount of amp rolling here I figure it makes sense to ask here.

My Susvara's arrive today :)

Looking forward to it, but have not yet got a adapter to make use to the dual XLR ports on my Hugo TT2, so am not sure how well it will perform single ended in the meantime. Should be in a position to find out this afternoon.

I got this from Amazon, very inexpensive. Was able to easily check and unscrew the connections to confirm that the correct pins are connected for this purpose.

They sound anemic from single ended which I’m sure you’ll hear soon enough

I have ordered this one - https://www.directnine.uk/products/...lver-plated-cable?_pos=1&_sid=9d81da922&_ss=r

I also contacted Moon, and it looks to be around USD160 for their varient. I am hoping the above will be suitable, these seem to be rather hard to find.

Very early impressions: Hifiman R10 Planar

1. Very easy to drive but may be amplifier-picky, nonetheless.

2. It sounds unbelievably better on my Pass Labs amplifier than on my otherwise, irreproachable, Accuphase e380.

3. Macro dynamics absolutely class-leading. I haven’t heard this level of slam and punch on any headphone, barring the 1266 Phi TC! Will A/B with the 1266 Phi TC soon, to confirm.

4. Bass is fantastic. Its low, it rumbles, and it’s textured.

5. Imaging is class-leading.

6. Female vocals sound gorgeous. I was stunned even when A/B-ing with the Susvara.

7. Male vocals sound good, but need to test with a larger variety of vocals, from the baritone to the soprano voice.

8. Comfort and ergonomics top notch.

Summary: This is a bloody good headphone!

Disclaimer: All these impressions are based on the Pass Labs pairing and not the Accuphase pairing.

How about comfort especially over long periods.
Ideally compared to Susvara

Supremely comfortable. Light, ergonomic. Comfort on par with the Susvara.
The headband had me worried at first, but this is reassuring

If R10P have the same materials as R10D that is big shame. 10D looks and fells like a toy.

Thinking real hard about my next move. I did listen to the Susvara at a dealer, but not with my HP Amp. The demo. was with a SPL Phonitor xe and they adjusted the dip switch to add an extra +24 db. The Susvara was really, really nice that day. Much better than the Final D8000 Pro which I also have, but what they also had in shop.

I intend to take my HeadAmp GSX Mini in and seeing if they take to the Susvara or not. Or do others here feel that could be a wasted effort and it’s not a good match at all ?

My other option was using a Hugo TT2 that will be with me this week.

Have tried the combo! The Mini is a fabulous little amp but doesn’t drive the Susvara as well as a speaker amp.

I'm sure the same would apply to the Phonitor
