Anyone got any recommendations for a closed back headphone to complement the sundara, looking for a different sound signature and currently considering one of the Fostex X00 variants

Hello friends,

I have just purchased my hifiman Sundara’s. Being totally new to this type of headphone (my other set is Grado SR80). Can anyone suggest a replacement cable instead of the cable that comes with the Sundara’s? Budget up to £50.00

Cable is cable dude. Don't waste money. Buy new cable if it gets broken.

Guys, what about amp?

Topping DX3 Pro?
Topping NX4S?
Topping A50?

I recommend the Heresy, 2.4W for $99 USD is amazing!!! Modi 3 in black will look amazing as a stack, but I would recommend Topping E30 or SMSL Sanskrit 10th Mark II for their AK4493 chip. They also support DSD and higher bit depth/sample rate if that matters to you.

Edit: if you get E30 make sure to update firmware which corrects polarity issue addressed in ASR and discussed in this video: Topping E30 - New firmware vs Old Firmware

Yes. Good picks. E30 and Heresy godlike performers with nice price. No need to go expensive unless you want balanced.

If you aren't chasing after things such as occ, 7n, litz, etc. fancy wire material, Neomusica cable on Amazon is recommended for being more compact and lighter. For visual appealing + customization of length/termination then Hart cables + Periapt cables are highly recommend

Perhaps he wants custom length, ergonomics, termination for balanced etc.

More power also comes with price x I have Magni 3 and Asgard and prefer the asgard (But it is twice the price). And although I prefer the Asgard, the M3 is very good as well. Not trying to make your life more difficult, really!

Finally got my Sundaras and am loving the sound coming from it and the comfort on my head.
Agree that the stock cables arent great and the right side cable doesnt seem to connect well and i usually have to fiddle with it to get sound from the right side.

Everything seems so clear & loud compared to the HD6XX (from memory).
I am really enjoying it and will next test if there is any noticeable difference between the 2 amp/dacs I have before looking to upgrade the amp/dac.
