I agree, I like the sundaras for all that you mention, but I'm craving that detail of the 800 that I've read so much about. I'm lucky to have the selection now of the sundaras, nightowls, hd650s, and the 800.

I'm think about what type of can to get next. Something from Audeze? I'll have around 3k to spend. I dunno.
Or perhaps a new amp dac combo?

Someone from Hifiman answer between page 110-120 that they dont have failing driver anymore.

- Can new buyers confirm this?

I might get the audeze LCD 2c. I'm not sure. Perhaps the zmfs, but I've always wanted a pair of audeze.
Any other suggestions now that I've added the 800 cans? LCD XC?
I have the benchmark dac1 and dac2 I could replace or are good enough as sources and focus on headphones?

Having demoed the HD800 twice and owning the Sundara I'd say that they are on par, but the HD800 "feels" more detailed but doesn't have the realism of the Sundara.

The Sundara also paints a clearer picture of the soundscape imo

Out of all LCD headphones I've tried before, I think the LCD XC would be the best complement to the Sundaras. It has the Audeze signature but also doesn't lose to the Sundara in technicalities.

Focal uses Metal Drivers. Very fast and accurate but harsh

Verite is beryllium coated PEN plastic driver. Best of both. Tons of speed and accuracy but warmer, more natural timbre.
