With the R2R2K family, if you were lucky enough to find a good one, it certainly was a keeper. HM1000 sounds different.

HM1000 has a better DAC output, you really need an amp to enjoy it.Please develop further this sentence
Being an owner of the Red, I am curious.
After read your advice, i definitely love my R2R2k very much. Thanks for your shared, really useful for me.HM1000 has a better DAC output, you really need an amp to enjoy it.
The R2R2K family as a package offered great dynamic sound without the need of an amp.
Truly portable, for me easy one handed operation.
I miss mine so much.
Very much agree very nice sound indeed for such a small package, beating out a lot of the larger DAP's with ease. A lot of the better sounding DAP's these days seem to be more gravitating to being transportable, rather than portable.HM1000 has a better DAC output, you really need an amp to enjoy it.

HM1000 all things considered.Out of curiosity, which one would make you more happy? R2R2K?
R2R2K for me as I don't want my player to be dependant on a secondary device.Out of curiosity, which one would make you more happy? R2R2K?

I heard a rumor that iFi is going to release a DAP in May. Looking forward to it.

Go on be a devil, we all need more R2R DAP'sFake news, honestly
But aside of iFi work, I'm an enthusiast just as everyone else in here. Prior to joining iFi I was all about DAPs
True, but a tad difficult to fit in the shirt pocket LOL.I don't really want a dap anymore, for me the future is a HUGO 2 size DAC/Amp that can pair with my tablet. No DAP can replace the functionality of my tablet.
