Anyone use the R2R2000 as a DAC with a smartphone (via USB-C)?

Red works with iPhone as well.
But CCK cable is required.
In android phone, red charges in DAC mode.
In iOS, there is no charging

I see that you have also Metrum Pavane in your system, I heard a lot of goods things about Pavane like that it takes it place in the of the hi-end ligue nos r2r dacs among MSB and dCS. Do you think that r2r2k red can be compared to the Pavane`s level. I will be very grateful if you can compare them directly. I thinking of buying a desktop multibit\r2r dac and r2r2k red seems to be a good match. I`ve heard it for 15 min. without external amp only and it sounded good but I have never heard Pavane. Thanks

I'm using it with Iphone. I've found that through bluetooth and Hifiman app the sound is not worse than through CCK and USB cable.

I had purchased red blindly thinking that it’s signature comes close to pavane.
As I have stated in my previous posts that red’s timbre is very good and I am happy with the overall sound especially paired with external amps.
Pavane is very different(superior) to red. There is no comparison imo.
If you are looking for desktop r2r nos dacs at good price then you should look into preowned Metrum onyx.
If you plan to upgrade to nos r2r dacs then you should pair with absolute neutral/transparent amplifier to get the most of NOS sound.
After replacing v281(colored) with hpa4 the change/upgrade in sound was unbelievable.
Red + hpa4 pairing shows the true signature/quality of pcm1702 r2r chips and is vastly superior to direct headphone out.

I usually browse my songs by folders, and just noticed something. Whenever you add new songs to a folder and then go back to view the files, it will NOT list them alphabetically. Instead, it lists files sorted by order how they were copied, newer files added to the end of the list. The only other time I have seen that was on L&P LP5 Gold where I have to run DriveSort util. Just did the same on R2R2k RED and it sorted files to list them in alphabetical order. The only catch, DriveSort only works on FAT32 format, so you will have to reformat your uSD card if it is otherwise.

There is really a lot new, but even though it's a future man spin on it, as far as the physical, they really are sticking to their story .... I think I like it.

Most likely RockBox extensively used in the past had something to do with us used to browsing by folders!
I would be very happy if Rockbox 3.14 could run stableon the R2R2000.
I have no need for " hi-res " files.
