In detail the r2r black , but the N8 has a lot more such as dynamics , body , width and fun.
You really did again dude, you know not so easy to pop in store over here.
Tbh, some of the happiest listening on the go lately has been BT Sennheiser M3s, i might reconsider my totl iem behaviour of the last 10 years
Love the sound!!! I covered it in my Empyrean review. It pairs up great with hard to drive, more demanding headphones. But I find this DAP to be more user friendly when I use it as a wireless DAC/amp paired up with my phone or something as little as AP80 dap where I can control and navigate it remotely. Also, while I was using iEMatch with a lot of my multi-BA and hybrid iems (due to their lower impedance/higher sensitivity), I'm actually OK now in many cases with the lowest gain setting which eliminates hissing. Need to switch gears to focus more on Red testing to finish my review soon.
But these daps really sounds very good.
I like both the Red and the Black R2R sound , like it more than the sp1000 and Lotoo .
Maybe Red, i heard Black over a year ago, was amazing but way too pricey for not the complete package, i might try Red, but that UI and glitches that will never be ironed puts me off majorly
Understood , best put tracks in folder and play or play albums and that will help avoid using the UI . Soundwise they sound lovely , especially indoors. Why indoors ? Cause it reveals all the tiny instruments , the breathing the guitar strumming.
Got ya, thanks
I am using red with my portable & desktop amps. The small form factor is amazing.
I have not tried the black version but I believe red is very impressive.
My first preference in DAP/DAC is instrument timbre and tonality. Red fulfils this.
After listening to NOS R2R dac I lost all interest in my previous dap i.e sp1000cu.
I tried other flagships DAP as well but I was never convinced.
I was waiting for a dap like red to launch.
HFN customer support is awesome.
They clarified all the queries. I hope they refine the software & battery in near future.
After painfully listening to my sp1000 for 8 months I sold it. I have no regrets.
I am happy that a portable device exists which comes close to my desktop DAC in terms of timbre and is quite affordable in present DAP market.
Direct headphone out is not that good with my devices. But with amps red is a beast.
I also believe red can substitute a desktop DAC.
I am using red as dac in my secondary setup(bedside). I have zero complaints with the sound and I don’t feel like getting a desktop dac.
Again special mention about small form factor.
Custom case is nice.
I had that headphone , it was awesome.
But most of your headphones are closed back, right? So, wouldn't they provide enough isolation with a similar indoor/outdoor listening experience? Or you think isolation is still not perfect?
TH900 is semi closed , so usually with a Cowon dap I can add some extra bass.
u r very active here, just release for us a dac with r2r
love your ifi ican pro amp bought it twice
Yes we are, but at the moment we have no nfo on a DAP of our own, be it based on R2R or anything else!
You're a star!
