Am almost exclusively using my JH13pro these days.

The rxMK3B is the best portable amp i've come across so far other than the TubeAmp TA-1.
Brings a very HIFi quality to the player it is paired with, elevating the sonic significantly to my ears.
It's also among the most pricey of portable amps but very worth it imo.

Surprisingly the HM901 stacks well even against the DX100+MK3B (low gain) combo for me.

However with headphones such as ATH-W30000 anv, the MK3B just makes the W3000 sings.

Have yet to try with the SE846 though it could be a good pairing with the balanced filter.

well guys, took one for the team and thought I'd try a 256gb card with the 901... While readable, the 901 goes into a (seemingly endless) cycle of reboots. The card I used was a 600x Lexar 256gb formatted in Fat32. I was able to play a few songs before a reboot occurred (after waiting to see if the card would ever finish getting indexed).

I guess my dream of having my entire collection on the go is a dream deferred :\

Why did you format it to fat32? Exfat is supported and works well on my 128GB cards.

Which combi works better for the jh13? Interesting times, curious how your trrs balanced will perform against the alo balanced.

Is ExFat supported!? Doh, I didn't know that... I could have sworn I read somewhere that Fat32 was only supported. Oh well, I just returned it... I'll try again here shortly...

Do you know if there is a benefit in keeping 128gb cards in the exfat format versus formatting it in fat32? Are there downsides to formatting it into fat32? just got my sandisk 128gb and not sure which is the best format to put it in.

I noticed faster read/write times on ExFAT than FAT32 on larger cards (e.g. 64/128gb).  Also ExFAT is the default format with all SDXC cards.  Disadvantage would be it may not be compatible with older card reader designed for SDHC (probably card reader circa 2008 or earlier).

My general advice is if ExFAT is supported, always go with it.

Yet to have a trrs adaptor/connector.

Though am confident the MK3B would have much more power than the HM901 in driving the bigger cans.
For customs and iems, the AK120 and HM901 works more than well enough on their own. Though the JH 13 seems to perform better with extra juice.

I'll have to say... Despite my multiple-listening of my friends' HM-901 and not finding it too impressive and what not, I went with the HM-901 anyway as my portable source. It's just too hard to satisfy with everything when you know you are using a portable setup. I'm not asking it to beat my SR-009 setup which I have just sold, but I do have pretty high standards for sound when aspects other than sound is already unsatisfactory. My unmodded T5P and Ochakaru Flat4-Kaede went the best with HM-901 comparing to RWAK100 and DX100, though I have not heard the T5P pairing with Nagra SD (which is pretty popular in China).

Sound wise, HM-901 gave me the most satisfaction. iBasso's DX100 is pretty good, but its bass seems a little bit too tight. HM-901 has a smoother sound and airier feeling yet maintaining solid imaging of vocals and instruments. However, I was not totally impressed by its ability to drive high-impedance headphones, despite all the talk about its output ability. Maybe I could try the HE-500 sometime later, I had a good experience with the HE-500 pairing with my old HM-801 with balance card.

Problem now is with HM-901's battery life, for me. I'm wondering if I can use a portable charger or something to charge my HM-901 on-the-go. Also, UI's speediness has some room for improvement. Bugs also need to be cleared out of the way for HM-901 to become a true stand-out among some up-coming flagships and current Hi-End Portable DAPs.

What I found best for me ExFAT for music, FAT32 for firmware upgrade.
