Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone

Is this an easy "fix"? I hope it is as I'm a bit worry about this too, these metal retainers inside the connector housing won't stay tight forever, funny how Hifiman and Beyer decided to go with TS type connection at the same time, they must have worked out the reliability problem.

beyer's design includes an o-ring that helps the socket retain the plug, where as Hifiman simply relies on frictional forces from the socket. IMO Beyer will likely hold up, but Hifiman will be prone to socket issues like all TS finger type plugs.

Thanks.
I have a DAC-19 like DAC, which I love.
I will also receive a new USB DDC, so I'll wait for that.
The EF6 would also be tempting

EF6 + HE1000...  YES! Good pair!

I have had them for few month now and can any one send me a link how to remove the hear pads.

Its very simple once you have done it once, you hold one ear cup in your hand and with your other hand you reach in the the inside bottom of the ear pad and grasping it strongly you pull it towards you, nothing will break, there are plastic lugs holding the ear pad on. To put it back on line it up and push it back on firmly as you work your way around the outer ear pad.

Credit card! Don't go digging your fingers in to gouge the pads out, or you risk puncturing the driver.

But if you damage your credit card, you can't buy any more headphones!

I have had this problem too, it is most likely a loose connector, after a while they loosen up, you can fix it by removing the ear pad and using a small screwdriver to push the metal retainer to make it tighter. Its easy to see what you have to do when you take the earpad off.

Can you please post an image of what i the metal retainer because I have removed my ear pad off but not sure exactly what was the retainer.

I wanted to attach YouTube video to this post to show the problem I am having. Also I hope this video can help other He-1000 owners to identify this problem and if we can get a solution on this forums this may save people time and money with warranty return. Also if any one has a tutorial how to fix this problem I will greatly appreciate it.

Did this start happening before or after you removed the pads? I'm guessing you removed the pads to investigate?

Any early owners of HE-1000 with no hardware issues?
(or recent ones...)

I had a hardware issue with the initial Beta, gear mechanism came apart, got a new one sent to me, no hardware issues since.
