Ok good to know. Any word on the changes though?

The headband and QC was tightened up. On mine, there are no issues, beta, and the headband is fine. No ear pad changes or other differences regarding sound per the email I got from Fang.

Ok that's what I thought. Did u send yours back? Doesn't really seem worth it to me, the headband is fine with me and no QC issues on mine that I've yet encountered.

No, no reason to, they are fine. No QC problems, they look very fine, work well, all is good. Oh, and they sound excellent. I read about them being polite etc. I would not want any more dynamics than what I am getting, honestly, it would be unnatural. Maybe it is the amps and so on but they things Jump when they need to. I have depth, transparency, frequency extremes and with classical to rock dynamics that convey the music, if it is recorded. I use a lot of DSD with the Hugo (adapter to my balanced power supply) in DoP to the micro Zotl and Mojo V power supply and have the modular Whiplash TWau cables arriving today in 8 plait. All is good. :^)

If the headband is fine with you, it might be better to keep the beta unit.

For a few beta testers with larger heads, the "more small-head accommodating" production headband is actually less comfortable because it's shorter, so it has more pressure at the top of the head.

I pulled mine up some by going through the holes on each side of the middle holes with some string. Extremely easy to do and adjust the headband to where you want it. I wear about a 7 1/8 to 7 1/4 hat so I guess I am normal but my wife has a small head but a PhD so I guess a big brain. lol

Ok thanks guys, yeah if there are no changes to sound quality I'm just going to keep it - don't see the point in sending them away and having to pay for the cost of shipping just to shorten a headband i have no problems with.

Does anyone have Totaldac and H1K? Totaldac have headphone output with powerfull transistor amp that can drive up to Abyss,I reed forgot who prefered to listen HD800 directly vs some expensive high end amp,I think it was eddie current

Based on Jeff's comments the only changes are the shorten of the headband and tighten up the production tolerances.
The return is paid by the user to the Delaware office. HifiMAN pays to ship the new ones to you and normally they have been coming directly from China.

If you are happy with the beta and they fit fine then there is no reason for you to do it but I would let Jeff know that's what you want to do.

The Production Version came very quickly, by the way, about a week if I remember correctly. I was surprised when it arrived.

Yeap, mine took about the same time.

Maybe I'm an outlier, but I almost always enjoy more transparent and revealing headphones even when the source material isn't the best quality.  You might hear defects you didn't hear before in a track, but you'll also hear more detail in the music as well.

Probably we're both outliers, I feel the same way and listen to a lot of metal.

I agree. the gear should be as good as it can be. The production values of the music or recording quality doesn't matter to me if all I notice is the music (basically anything decent will work). Artistic intent, or the music matters more than anything else for me. When the engineering of the album takes a dump on the music or is so bad that overtakes it then I hate it. When it's completely coherent to what the recording is about, as well as its time and place, then all is fine. This is one of the reasons I like very very few classical records from before the 80's. When hiss and artifacts dominates the track I gotta go. I have no problems with recording quality from a lot more stuff from other genres before the 80's, which is funny now that classical built itself over the years as one of the top hifi-type recordings.

My dad's classic rock records sound pretty damn good for being 40+ years old, way pre 80. Sometimes the nitty gritty can not take the crackle out though. Listening to Elton John Tumbleweed Connection and Santana Inner Secrets. Really good stuff. Allot better sounding than allot of modern day recordings.
