Your opinion interest me, you owned an Abyss right ?
The HE1000 is more warm and smooth than the SR007MKI ? I already found the SR007 unoffensive.
Did the HE1000 is more solid or less ethereal sound than the SR007 ?

Did you prefer the HE1000 over the Abyss ?

Thanks

Yes, the SR007 MKI is brighter then the HE1000. The stax has a better focus with wider soundstage and more open sounding.
The Abyss is king of airness and soundstage. For me better then HD800 in this area! The bass heft on the Abyss is something you can almost feel better then on the other headphones. The great soundstage, tonality and transparency of the Abyss let me forget I wear headphones. That is something the HE1000 has not. Transparency is for me very important. And in this area Abyss, 007 and 009 are better then HE1000.

Ha...  Ya know what..  I am missing the LCD-3Fs.  The female vocals and that intimate smokey jazz club feel they reproduce are unmatched IMO...

I'm not surprised at all. I already wrote my opinion in my review a few weeks ago and nothing I read from people I trust changed anything of what I think about the HE1K  :

I am not very convinced SR009s, HE-6s or HD800s fans will replace any of these headphones for the HE1000s. Perhaps Audeze fans are the closest to consider a direct switch, considering the closer proximity in sound, but the Audeze I know (and LCD2.2 LCD3) offer density, fullness that is not found elsewhere and offer some lush in mids that adds presence to voices.

Didn't know you sold the 3Fs. I am selling mine, but not entirely sure I want to sell them. They do some things I really enjoy.

Btw so do HE-6s have some of that magic mids, as you know. :) You'll be back.

Listening to Diana Krall's Wallflower album on the HE1000 now. Sublime.

Listening to some Scott Hamiliton and Charlie Byrd. Extremely well done. For me the HE1000 cut through the BS and give you the sound. I have wonderful depth, layering and imaging as well as transparency of the sound. Listen to enough live music and you can hear the paralleling of the sound when what you are listening to is well recorded and using the HE1000, a good amp and source.

I'm repeating myself in many related threads but, the balanced Pono really works great with the HEK. Using Norne balanced cables with Pono adapter (Zoetic model). sound is crazy good!

I'm thinking of giving you your first custom title, "Livin' the Pono-Norno Dream"!

I'll wait awhile.  Maybe Audeze will come out with a counter to the HE1Ks that's more reliable than the current LCD-3s while keeping the midrange they're known for.

Goodluck with the 1.5k impedance bro. My guess is that audeze will have to release an amp with a billion output impedance along with the prototype. Also that probably wont come out in less than a year. Saw your 3Fs on the market right after i bought mine. Comfort and reliability issues made me return them in the first week :frowning2:

I use the Moon 430HA for the HE1000! And only a Stax SRM717 for the Stax phones. Speed, clarity, bass quality goes clearly to stax. I found the HE1000 a touch too warm and unoffensive. In the next day I get the KGSS for my SR009 and SR007 MK1 and when this would be better then SRM717 oh my goodness!

But In the end the HE1000 is technically the best orthodynamic by now! But with the big electrostatics there is no contest in my eyes.

Wow - that is the opposite of what I was getting at. Solid state amps don't get much better than the 430HA IMHO, and many folks have stated that the BHSE is a better unit than any of the Stax amps. That's an impressive win for the SR007/SR009.

What does the 1.5k impedance have to do with anything?  I'm asking because I'm not sure what you're getting at.  So just asking for some clarification.

I have no issues at all with comfort with any headphone.  SQ comes first for me.  I feel you on the reliability.  However, Audeze does a really good job with their customers - so I've read.

Wonder how the HE1000 sounds with 300B tubes like the Takatsuki....

Hi,

Does the HE1000 has more solid sound (less ethereal) than the SR007 ? It sounds as smooth as the SR007 ?

Thanks
