Never like the T1, I wouldn't be sure  about the THD+N yet I only have about 2 hours into it. But yes at least now there has been something happening in the treble, but with specific songs.

I've never heared so much information in the treble with either the T1 or LCD-3 though.

Would you mind hooking up a car battery to your HE-1000 and LCD-3?  I want to know which driver bursts into flames first.  Don't bother with the T1; we all know how badly the T1 handles car batteries.

If someone would care to send me one for evaluation, I could hook it up to my KGSSHV to test the high voltage performance.

If it passes this test, I will hook it up to my Tesla coul for 250,000 Volts of AC goodness.

If they fail this test, you can always send it back as an RMA claim.

I asked Fang if there were any changes to the sound of the HE1000 in the  post beta phones and he said no. The headband has been shortened and the QC has been tightened up.

I had the Beta and now the construction one and there was a headband adjustment which I noticed right away. I cant tell any differences in sound with the production model from the beta.

Don't actually find the headband adjustment comfortable, leave it wide open most of the time even though that is large for my head, as it puts all the pressure at the very top of my bald noggin when I make it smaller.

Yes, those are the only two changes that Jeff was able to confirm.
I am shipping my Beta unit back tomorrow to exchange it for my final production unit. I'll miss them dearly until the production unit arrives:cry:

Does anyone have a recommendation of a good portable amp to drive my HE1000 reasonably well from the AK240? (Yes I know the limitations of portable amps and I am intending to use that as a solution for vacation only, so I don't really need a lecture on why and how only the most expensive DACs and desktop amps would "bring out the best" of the HE1000 yada yada...)

Balanced or SE? Balanced RSA has a couple of nice amps that would also supply some good power.

Thanks jamato8 - I do have the SR-71B, but I am not sure if I can following two balanced cables:

- AK240 2.5mm balanced out to SR-71B balanced in
- SR-71B balanced out cable for HE1000

The balanced connection standard for the headphone market is just such a mess IMO...

If you want a transportable amp that's even more powerful than the amp section of Chord Hugo, MASS-kobo 404 is the best bet but the size ain't ideal. You could bring your HE1000 there and test it out

It does have 4-pin XLR output so the stock balanced cable of HE1000 is ready to go. Just get one of those balanced 2.5mm TRRS to 2.5mm TRRS cables terminated with the same Nakamura NP-254 connector on both sides

Only $300 for two connectors when you get them from Lowther China in Mong Kok.

For cables and adapters, it's easy to get them made in either Wan Chai 298 or Mong Kok etc.
