Thank you. Now we should say it's not rumor any more. It's in the process of being discontinued...

No problem only passing on what i have been told by store who has placed order for me .

I ordered a pair then salesman told me that they were doing last production run of he-6 after that no more so placed order for second pair and i was also told no replacment so the 560 and 1000 were the 2 top models .

Which is strange to me as 560 & 1000 both are different to HE 6. Maybe they don't have enough sales for HE 6 ?  FYI Amongst the hi end HP's HE 6 is the second longest thread (after HD 800), so maybe it has fewer owners than other high end HP's but these owners are more obsessive ....

Seems strange to me to ,there is a big price difference between 560 and 1000 were a replacement 6 could have been in between the two , i cant wait to join the obsessed HE-6 owners club .

I'm not obsessed. Just because I spent more on amps to drive this headphone than I have on my car doesn't make me... oh, wait a sec

There's a big price gap between the 6 and 1000!

I think the 6 is one of the best sounding HPs I've heard, regardless of price. With the usual caveats (eg amping, mods) of course.

I'm thinking about a Moon 600i for these.. Why not?

Does the quarter filt dampen the treble even more?
I just re-did the fuzzor mod, without the quarter filt. I find them a tad bright, tho I have a little bright sounding amp with them atm.
But also, does angled pads make any difference too the treble?

Is there a local one to be had for cheap? You could get a new Moon 430HA for that kind of money...

The 430HA is possibly one of the best amps I've heard with the HE-6 that isn't mondo backbreaking in size, and it has a dac options as well.

But yeah if you can get a 600i used, then that's better value overall.
