For me Ragnarok and Dacmini is off the list...findings from impression of my 20 mins audition with my HE-6 last weekend during DC meet

Krell beats Rag for its soundstage and bass impact in a big way, also it more 3D then Rag. Maybe I need to spend more time with it for good impression, but with limited time I was not impressed at all.

I was looking for Class D amp, to save desk space (no speakers), but Dacmini sounded very thin and soulless  (it may be more a DAC than amp). Next on list are NuPrime IDA-16 and Clonesaudio AP2, I have a deal with local dealer....he is going to lend them for home trail. If result is same as Dacmini, I will never attempt class D again.

Local dealer says "Both of these amps improve on their class D limitations (some dryness on higher frequencies and less rich harmonics), while maintain their core strengths (tremendous control on loudspeaker, strong pace) they will have something interesting to offer"

Geez, maybe try a NAD M22? It might be the cheapest Hypex Ncore amp you can get right now short of DIY

Have you thought about bel canto?

Hey guys,
Has anyone tried NAD D 3020 with he-6? These NADs are in my radar and are in a good price for me.

I've been very curious about that one too. You should take the plunge and let us know how it sounds

The D3020 has UcD amp modules from Hypex which is what tweaked my interest in them.

You didn't find the Rag to be cleaner sounding?

Clean sounding yes, but did not have solid authority over HE-6 like an speakeramp. Rabbit hole was much much smaller then expected.

So I was right in that it's more of a side grade compared to the 400xi? Depends on your priorities of course. Imaging aspect is very weak on the Rag; something I can't live with either.

Good to know about the D3020.  I wanted to get the NAD 3020 from the 1970's and saw the D3020 which peaked my interest.  I guess I will skip the D3020 and keep my eyes open for a 3020 or 3120 form the 70's-80's.

Heh, get something like this and config for dual bridged outputs, fed out of a single speakon adapter...

The cable stockis good because it is out of copper OCC but there is better such as for example cryogenized copper OCC.

I'll try my best, but I don't make any promises. At first, I need to pull the trigger on he-6 and then I start the journey of amp auditioning.
