anybody know if the metal yoke from the 400i fits these?

The 400i doesn't have a metal yoke stock, but the 560 and 400i have the same plastic yoke and the metal Sundara yoke is what HiFiMan has been sending out to those with yoke failures on the older models. If you are talking about the headband portion, it is metal on both the 400i and 560 and there are the same except for a badge with a label for the model. The Sundara headband is a replacement for those as well.

If you mean the original HE400 steel yoke then yes it will fit but its not as simple a swap since the mounting is a bit different and you would be using the entire HE400 headband since the yokes are riveted on to the headband.

[Update]
My calibration has to be wrong. My HE560s are screaming off my Lyr 2. I can't even put them on and I'm reading 74 db max?!?!

I posted something that might help few pages back, just get read that and use 1kHz sine-wave and a DMM or scope to measure output voltage of your headamp jack/plug. Knowing HE-560 sensitivity and the output RMS voltage of a sine-wave playing could give you a rough approximation of the sound pressure.

In case you want to use a sound level meter, then use a 1kHz sine-wave and not actual music playing. You need to get a top volume of 105-110dB (just don't put the headphones around your ears!); that usually means an average between 75-85dB on actual music.

So, I guess I am looking at the Massdrop 4XX, which has a steel yoke.
I am not concerned about a complete headband switch out, I just want to be able to listen to these MARVELOUS sounding headphones without a kind of lopsided fit.
I mis-ID'd them as a 400i from a photograph.
Anyway, is that a realistic yoke switch-out?
I am not sure if the attachments of yoke to cup are going to do alright.

I bought these from my brother-in-law for a song, I have the Chinese paperwork but no receipt.
So I don't imagine Hifiman will just give me a free Sundara yoke, although that would be very nice!
Haven't yet had a reply from them so we will see.

Thank you for you guys' input!

I emailed a photo of the damage along with my receipt. I asked if a metal yoke was possible as a replacement. Hifiman customer service sent the Sundara yoke free of charge.

Could you please provide some pics: before vs. after yoke replacement? It's quite interesting to see how the HE-560 looks like after the "Sundara mod". Also, please let us know if Sundara yokes are difficult to install on the HE-560 or not. Thank you!

I'll post some photos when I get home next week. There is a video from Hifiman a few pages back on this thread that I used for reference. It's not a very difficult install.

Those silver bands on the sliders really bug me for some reason. They cheapen the aesthetic, I think.

Hmm... I do like the look of the heandband on the Ananda. Maybe it's paintable...

Is the slider scratching between adjustment holes on the left there? I can't tell what I'm seeing. The right side looks like it has no holes at all...

No no it works perfectly and plus there are many rubber rings one to each side of the yokes holes so screw - rubber - yoke - rubber - metal cylinder that hosts the screw.

I have a pair of Massdrop 4XX.
Can the headband/yoke be made to work on the 560's?
I'm keen to try this, until I get a way to buy the Sundara headband.... the attachments are smaller on the 4XX than on the 560's, which are just holes bored into the cup for the stupid plastic knobs on the break-away yoke.
