If you don't mind coming to Queenstown, you can test out mine.

Wow, thanks for the offer! But I better hold off for now, saving money to get a DA8 and I don't want to get too tempted

For what it's worth... At the Newport show I listened to the 560 out of everything from the EF2A to the HeadAmp GSX-MKII. It sounded horrible out of the EF2A, as did the 400i. But it sounded amazing out of everything else including the Lyr2, Asgard2, WA7, HA-1, Liquid Gold, etc etc. It never sounded 'bright' but I can honestly see why people might hear it... YMMV. PM-1 next to it sounded horrible. The 560 destroyed the PM-1 in every way. In fact, the 400i was far better than the PM-1 (IMO) out of every source I used including the HA-1.

That being said... I'll hold off on buying the 560 until there is some manufacturing consistency. My modded HE-500 sounded as good as anything I heard, save the 560 balanced (not burned in) out of the GSX-MKII. Bring on the hate!

There be no hate here,
As you are in the 560 thread :p
Lol

 wow.. nice pics..
the pre-560 will definitely look much much better..

I agree. I do prefer the pre560 looks to the current veneer version.

subbed. Still deciding whether I should get this headphone considering that I have and love HE6. Wonder whether it would be redundant or a step down (in which case not money well spend IMO)

step down. if you have a good speaker amp that is, a properly drive HE-6 outperforms the HE-560, I found the HE-560 by itself to be a good alternative however, being more trebley than the HE-500 and improving all around, I would probsbly still choose HE-500 though, and I prefer HE-6 over all.

the 560 is also better than the garbage Oppo is pushing...

Nah, it is much of personal taste, I find the production 560 looks much more coherent as a whole.
Could be just me.

I feel the same way. The production has a little more character to its design, an edgy look as well. The pre-production was just wood. The production is a combination of multiple aspects.

Some guys tried the Hifiman EF2a to drive these HE560s with great success. Seems like a very nice combo. If you don't need the DAC portion, you can give the EF3 a try, it's basically an EF2a w/o the DAC. Currently Hifiman still sells the EF3+HE300 combo for $249 at their website. Probably can sell the headphones if you don't need them to recover some cost.

That makes me curious to try the HE560 as well as the HE400i on my EF2A. I've enjoyed the amp quite a bit, especially after some tube rolling.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion....but Garbage????

Personally, I love mine. I listen to it a ton while at work...

I agree. I don't consider calling them garbage an accurate statement. I own them and also own the HE-6 and IMO the construction of the Oppo is better than the HE-6 now regarding sound they are different and love both.

I cannot say anything about the HE560 because I have not seen them in person so I don't feel entitled to even have an opinion until I can see them and try them by myself otherwise is just only my own speculation.
