I did not compare them in the same setup. I used the DA8 with USB input from the traditional "burn-in" process, for few days.

I am now using the DA8 fed by the Ciunas Converter (coax) with the A18. The bass is more extended, treble is less raw but this could be due to the Ciunas being better than the DA8's USB input.

I didn't feel like I was missing a lot from the DA8's internal headphone amp, honestly. It has no particular flaws that I could notice.
The A18 sounds bigger and more extended (keeping in mind the Ciunas thing), which is the typical improvement with better quality gear. It sounds warmer, too.

Thank you again for your prompt answer.
I am thinking about USB external power supply (AqVox USB external power supply) and a USB/AES-EBU Yellowtec PUC2 Lite Converter known to be a bargain in Europe for the price according to Roberto2...
Macbook Pro early 2011 16 Go RAM-->USB link (with AqVox power supply)-->Yellowtec PUC2 lite-->AES/EBU Yulong discret AZP OPAs DA8-->Hifiman HE-560 Headphones for recording tracks up to 192KHz rates.

I am just leaving the 560's play all the time. To my ear, these phones touch the music more than just about anything I have and better in an overall way that anything else. Give them a good source and quality amplification, I just don't get tired of them. I mean, when you have contact with music, real music, what else is there?

Someone knows when he 560 pads will be available?

Because of some people complaining about the earpad openings being too small (it really isn't for all intents and purposes), it is delayed. You probably would have your hands on these earpads now if not for the complaints. Hopefully the re-vamped earpads will actually be better.

Well I certainly hope they won't be worse :p
Does that mean they'll be replacing the current velour topped (smaller opening) earpads, or will they coexist?
I'd get both in that case... If they're >=50$/pair

Guessing you actually mean if they're <=50$/pair. Could be you like really expensive ear pads...

You may well be correct; wouldn't be the first (nor last) time I've been wrong. I always thought "<" meant "less than", and ">" meant "more than", and I'm assuming you meant that the pads should be less than (or equal to) $50. That's why I thought it should read "<=$50". My apologies if I got that wrong!!

I think your means equal and/or higher than $50. I am fairly certain but I ain't perfect

Y>X - X is lower than Y
Y<X X is higher than Y
Thereby [Y]>50$ means lower than 50$ [where Y is higher than $50]

Yeah the $50 in my case represents the pad. Most would probably expect it to work the other way... Well, I am correct in my way of thinking and he's in his... Many solutions to the same consensus... I might have caused it :D
OT anyway
