If anyone is looking for FocusPad-A (out of stock on Hifiman store and at Amazon), I contacted Hifiman, and they told me to buy from Newegg. I did that and can confirm that Newegg shipped me the correct FocusPad-A :)

Anyone having a HD 800 along their HE 560?
I wonder how those two headphones compare to each other.

I really like my heavily modded HE 560 but somehow feel like I need to add the HD 800 to my collection.
I've got both. Really consider that the hd800's are much better with a tube amp so you'd probably have to invest in one of those. I don't really have the right amp to get full potential out of them currently, so 560 gets more time. 560 is more versatile, can use those with just about anything. 800's mostly blues. I'd suggest auditioning before buying. Don't thing I'd have bought them if I'd have done that. That probably doesn't help much. I'd go he6 first.

They are different but it depends on what you want out of the HD-800.  If you are looking for something that works great for classical, jazz and some blues and have a decent amp to drive them then they will serve you well.  My HD-800's don't get used that much but for classical that is well recorded its hard to beat.  My HE-560 gets more use than the HD-800 but still not as much as the HD-700 and HD-650.

Intetesting, depends what you like, I guess. Had the 560 and the 650...hardly listened to the 650 once I got the 560 (sold it), and hardly listen to any other over ear since I got the HEK, but that's another story...

Forgive me for being late to the party but are these generally considered better than the focus pads?

I've read about thebprototype reviews but wasn't able to get the gist of only swapping pads.

Thanks.

I don't have the ability to do measurements, but to me they sound like they balance out the mids and tame the treble a bit, taking some of the brightness out of the HE-560.  I like them a lot.

I just got the 'old' model replaced with the 'new' model and I can say that that maybe it's just me or the wood finishing is a little darker. Inside of headband and focus pads is more soft and plushy for a fact compared to previous one I had which had some build quality problem.

One major difference I notice is from the outside grills. I can see the diaphgram right away with the wiring. However, I remember that there was something between the grills and the diaphgram before. Maybe someone has a picture of the old version grill view? Haven't checked sound yet. Very content with hifiman's support.

Look in the photos for this thread, I posted what my "old" HE-560 looks like and @Koolpep posted what his "new" one looks like about a week ago
