HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

It is interesting, not really sure about the pairing with the HE-500 though. The V200 seems to be a bit more bassy but this doesn't happen with the HD800, weird.

Does the B22 work well with the HD800?
My ears are bleeding from the HD800 and my current SS amps. I need something to tone down that harshness

The B22 won't do that, no. Maybe look towards warm solid state amps or tubes?

Do read up on the V200

. It's on the warmer side and tames the treble of the Hd800 a little. Being a treblehead, I like it the way it sounds with solid state amps.

BTW anyone tried the fuzzor mod?

Thanks. Got them yesterday and today I've grill modded them lol. Such a cheap and nice sounding mod. Cost me $8 and an hour of cutting and sanding.

Details please  what did you use for your grill and exactly what where the "nice sounding" improvements?

Any impressions yet on memory foam pads and the extra volume? And impressions of M9 with HE-500? I'm lusting after the M9:grin: was leaning toward Moljinir but M9 is drool inducing ...

Thanks for the pix.  They look pretty slick.  Nice to see the vinyl didn't tear like it did when I put the rings in my old HM5 pads.

That looks pretty awesome. Nice work!

Hmmm, I've a chance to buy a Beta 22 for a very good price here locally, pity its not that great with the HE-500, but sure the V100 should do the job more than well enough.

Thanks mate. Did you get a chance to listen to the HD800s through your tube amp before you sold it?

Obviously I didn't measure them, but I am hearing a slight lower treble boost and the bass is a little cleaner. The biggest change is the soundstage and imaging, which is much more open and precise.

Just buy a mesh bin and cut out the grill shape. If you want something even more open that i possible too, but IMO this is the perfect size. They are pretty cheap, you can probably get them for under $5 somewhere.

They still do very well, but I find that I just prefer the V200 a bit. For the HD800 I actually like the B22 a bit more.
