What are you looking for out of a headphone? What's your preference?

If I had to quantify it... if I assigned points to all of the virtues of each can and subtracted points for all of the problems, I'd say the LCD-2.2 is a 15% increase over the HE-500. The LCD-2.2 is my #1 and my HE-500 is my #1A.

The LCD-2.2's treble reminiscent of listening to music with the lights off. But man, those mids and that bass. Some may find such concessions and attributes completely unacceptable. The HE-500 is much, much more even.

I won't give points to both sets, but I'll try to give +/- points relative to the HE-500:

Bass slam: +2 for overall impact, -1 for overall speed.
Bass quality: +2 for overall size, dead even for overall quality.
Midrange performance: +2, but this represents a change from very good to very very good.
Treble performance: -2 for presence, dead even for overall extension.

These are out of 10, + meaning LCD is better, - meaning HE-500 is better.

LCD-2. 75/25 split. But then again, it's newer to me!

I think this is definitely accurate. I think it's hard to call the LCD2 a total upgrade. It's better in some spots, worse in others. Treble on the LCD2 is definitely uneven and recessed, so it kind of depends how much value you put on it.

Either way I think $700 is a pretty solid price on them (compared to what they go for), and Either headphone is better than the T1.

You should be able to sell them for around that, too. If you have the cash, it might be worth tying up to hear it yourself

Just made up a headphone cable with kimber. Bl**dy H**l.

The clarity is jaw dropping without any sense of hardness. The bass feels like it's going down my neck into my chest so deep and clear.

Listening to Edd Sheren 'X' album Runaway is so tight and deep, not a trace of overhang, each note stops like an F1 car.

Nice. What cable is it? Where did you get it from?

He said he made it using cable from Kimber Kable. Very high quality stuff if you're looking into a DIY cable.
