I totally agree with this, more soundstage is (almost) always better. But I honestly don't feel that the 400i is that lacking in soundstage.... (it definitely doesn't sound like a closed can)

 
I agree with you on soundstage and that's why I love my HD 598's. The soundstage is very large without having too much height or depth (like the AKG's) but the HD 598's also present vocals and midrange in general a bit forward which is why it doesn't sound distant. The key is to still obtain a balance of dimensionality while remaining somewhat intimate. 
 
Either of the extremes either makes everything sound more closed-in or far too distant. I'm hoping the HE-400i's soundstage will be satisfactory.

  560 is not leagues ahead of 400i.  They're more similar than different honestly.

when you hit the $400+ range of headphones, a lot of times the differences in SQ & sound signature are a lot more subtle.
 
I think it's amazing though that the $500 he400i's sound quality that can talked about the in same sentence as the $900 he560, and the $900 he560 is being compared to the $1000+ planar dynamics from other companies. this just makes hi-fi audio more accessible to everyday budget-minded people & that is a win for everyone

I just got the Asgard 2 and the HE400 sound great paired up with it,but I was looking for a SS amp.

They told me when I received my PM on the 7th that they will send out my unit "in the next few days". It's been a week now and no word on anything. I'd really like to get it sometime this week because I'm off work for the next 7 days.

How long do we get to use the tour units and what do we do at the end of the period?
