  HE400i or HE500
HE400i or HE500?

HE400i or HE500?

Help Guys :)

400i, sounds great, easier to drive, more comfortable, if you need it to sound warmer a few EQ cuts and you're done.

So i´ve had my 400is for a couple of weeks now and im really enoying them:) But i have a question for the bassheads here in this thread.
When i eq  some dbs on to the low frequencies and then amping they sound great but when i put the headphones off my head, the drivers sounds like they´re going to explode.
Should i be concerned or can i go full basshead with these?

Thanks in advance:)

I've the same question with others headphones xD

btw if anyone can explain differences between EL-8 open and 400i please!
Thanks guys!

They will be fine as long at you don't hit the max excursion, which I have done a few times.

  Alright, thanks alot :)

You should ALWAYS turn the volume down when they are off and the seal is broken, that is what is causing this problem. This was identified and discussed a year ago in the 560 thread. It is very bad to do this to your headphone, when off the head, the volume should go down.

  It won't.

The 560 is better technically, but will it be better based on preference is another question, but I don't think there is any objective doubt that the 560 is the technically better headphone.

No worries, I would hate to hear that your headphone was damaged from a preventable problem. Cheers.

Agreed. All these Hifiman headphones are fantastic. It's shame they don't have better QC.

I know for a fact the cables for Hifiman IEMs are dodgy... any QC problems I should be aware of for their headphones? The 400i cable seems plenty sturdy.

I had problems with my 400i. First it was a imbalance between drivers. The second pair had some kind of rattling/klicking sound on one side. The third pair was ok. My HE500 that I bought less than one week ago have channel imbalance. So it doesn't seem to matter if it is the new or the old models.

Glad mine was ok the first time round. But I'm treating it veerrrrrry nicely and delicately.
