I have compared my 400i's with the original 400's yesterday and for my tastes it's almost like comparing 2 different pairs of headphones...(Sorry but I really don't like the 400's)

I have tried them with the Vali, the Asgard and the Lyr and I don't like them at all.
 
I'm not saying that they are bad but I don't like them with rock and metal music...

I also had the Alpha Dog in the past and I slightly prefer the 400i for my music.  (Prog-Metal)
 
I cannot say anything bad about the Alpha Dog and I still believe that they are one of the best closed headphones on the market but the electric guitars sounds a bit more exciting with the 400i.

Could you please compare Grado 225e and HE 400i (overall and also which one handles electric guitar better in your opinion) in few words ?

From the reviews I thought the big diff in the 2 pairs was the lack of mids in the 400

Going back and forth myself, the difference is huge to me. So much so that I feel like the HE-400 is unlistenable now.
