OK, this is where I start looking the other way because now I want a pair.

They look great! Nice, rich teak? Classy!

My wallet is going to scream. I think I'll wait until the 400i comes out, though. Might be a better fit for me.

Looks like both will be winners in any case.

At this point I have become more hopeful for the he400i. I just hope its not really bright. The 560 being brighter than the 500 would make it a no go even if its technically better. If not the 400i then the 500 it is at some point ( or depends on if I stop at the crack and hd650 and don't look back.

that's like saying the AlphaDog and Senn HD800 are no good because they are "brighter" than the he500..
That's just "justification" to settle on the he400i, but that's also fine.
It is going to be good anyway :)

Surely he is stating that its a no go for him, not in general.
He probably indeed thinks ADs and HD800s are no good for him as he doesn't like "bright" phones.

I didn't know the AD was bright. For some odd reason that I recall someone mentioning or explaining, the Hifiman he500/400in particular kinda left my ears hurting from the sound so I couldn't listen to them long. I thought it was the treble peak of the 400 until I had the 500 and had the same issue though a lot less and i could tolerate it. Despite me loving the 500 it was uncomfortable for some reason unknown that after 20 hps after it i have yet to experience. So I guess I am scared of a bright Hifiman to be more specific because I could be wrongfully assuming I will have the same issue to a greater extent.

Probably best to try them out in person at a store with your own rig. The most important rule of audio: Ears come first. If they hurt in any way, there's no need to put up with them whatsoever, despite how good it may sound.

Me too. Anyone getting a sample unit? If so, when?

Really? People don't like the 560 all of a sudden? Hmmm... I don't get it, it's seen only praise so far...

That can easily be looked at the wrong way. No matter how good a headphone is it won't be for everybody as they are very niche -ie products and personally speaking its not the lane for me I dont think, I would like to hear it first. With the 400i tuned more like an he500 I find myself more interested in it.
